Can someone give me their comments on Berber carpeting in the cockpit area of my 300we? Wife is liking the Moonshine w/AquaLoc backing but I seem to remember others here have said it’s not a good idea

Just an FYI, I believe that Corinthian is having trouble producing their Aqualoc backing now. I have had my order in since the beginning of February for their Solar Tan with the Aqualoc. I ended up having to switch to their Hydrafelt backing instead.
My boat has Berber carpet on it now. It has held up well. My complaint is that it traps dirt and moisture. When I bought my boat in late July 2020, I pulled all of the carpet out to pressure wash it. I pulled it out again to measure for the new flooring and exterior upholstery in January and it was still full of dirt.

Get with Corinthian (advertiser here) and check out their Aquamat/Aqualoc, they will send you samples to evaluate. This product far exceeds Berber and dries super fast. The wife may like and change her mind, mine did.
They afford CSR members 15% discount.
I just received my shipment but have not installed yet. I went with the Velcro instead of snaps. I want to remove snaps and fill with epoxy before I install.

Which backing did you get?

I like the AquaLoc, many members have said it won’t slip on the glass decking. If I have to I will use the felt and install my own snaps if I need.

now to talk her out of the berber, might just show her that photo. Her other pick was the RipTide Shadow.

Berber is soooo dated... Next she is going to ask for wood paneling in the master. LOL Sounds like an intervention needs to take place. AquaLoc backing is the way to go and while I have the Solar tan my buddy just got the teak look last week from them and I am insanely jealous of that look.

The felt in my opinion would hold water...and the weave being vinyl wouldnt allow it to breath... or is my thinking wrong ?

That’s what I’m thinking as well also why I’ve reached out to the club

I’ve used Forest Green and SeaGlass which is lit with white LED. I have a Tan sample and the other, and a sample of Berber.

I don’t want the cockpit to get to dark so I’m wishing for a lighter color carpet

Blue, did you have to snap it down?
No...I had them install the velcro. I did the pattern and it was tight to the edges when I laid the Corinthian down it never moved so I never peeled the adhesive plastic last season ....I will this season. I removed the snaps and filled with matching gel coat.

I've got Corinthian with Aqualoc/Aquamat premium cut pile and it is nice. Good heavy carpet. It's in the helm area for me. No snaps or anything, just stays.
