Seadek/Marinemat/Aquamarine Protective Top-coat

Has there been a decision on which product is best? SeaDek or Aqua Marine? I search and it seems to be pretty split between these two as the best choices?

You'll get all sorts of different answers.

I have had Seadek, MarineMat, and Aqua Marine. On 3 different boats over the last few years. I can't tell the different between them as far as material goes. What I could tell was difference in quality of machine work (cutting quality). The best was Aqua Marine, second best was Seadek, third was MarineMat. Also, customer service experience after the sale varied for me. Best was Aqua Marine by a large margin, Seadek second. MarineMat a very distant third.

Added some more to the list based on suggestions. Up to 9 products I'm testing now. Here's the current list:
* 303 fabric guard
* starbrite water proofer
* Trinova marine protectant
* Bayes High performance fabric protectant (indoor/outdoor)
* Nikwax TX-direct
* Scotchgard water & sun
* 303 Aerospace
* Dr Beasleys LeatherLock
* Dr Beasleys LeatherLock Pro

If you wanna go cheap and DIY the whole thing the non-branded EVA foams are pretty solid too. Plenty of threads around here...

In for the results!

By the way, if you're removing EVA to put new stuff down, it doesn't have to be spotless to install the new stuff. Remove as much as you can by scraping and using acetone. The new stuff will adhere right over any of the old glue. Regarding the snaps, they won't hold up to traffic. They will tear and pull right up through the material. Glue it down for lasting results. I've been using and installing EVA for over 20 years.

Video testing 9 different coatings on EVA foam (aka seadek, aqua marine deck, gatorstep, marinemat, etc...) is finally up. Its a long one, but worth the watch. I'm going to do two more followup videos as well, one to test durability of the coatings once left out in the sun for a couple weeks, and another to test the relevant coatings on canvas and vinyl.

If you want to skip to the final results watch the last 8 minutes. But I would encourage you to skim through the rest of the video, as the results are somewhat different for each coating and each stain test. Let me know if you have any questions,

Here it is:

Great video and thanks for doing it. 303 Fabric guard it is. Also love your helper but WTF with the socks and sandals.

Awesome you did the research and video. Just ordered the aqua marine for my 29 dancer. Would have put nothing on it. Now i can put the 303 and feel better. Just ordered it on e bay for $18 for 16 oz sprayer

Nice!! I'm coating my Aqua Marine next weekend. I ordered up a gallon size to use in a pump sprayer. Will probably have more left over to re-apply later if needed.

Please let me know when done. I just ordered my flooring and said its about 3-4 weeks out. Then im installing

I am also looking at getting rid of my carpet and add a new flooring for the cockpit and TNT hydraulic swimstep/lift on my '95 450 Sundancer. does anyone have insight on the difference between SeaDek, DIY EVA, or PlasDeck? From what i have read, PlasDeck is most durable, but nuisance to lay down as it needs to be glued down. SeaDeck and EVA essentially same, but DIY version not as refined and Laser milled SeaDeck, but as durable and substantially cheapest than other options. Do all products feel the same when you walk on it? or is the PlasDeck a harder surface?
Which is easiest to clean? And now i read this thread and .... AquaMarine is on the scene. Im a first time boat owner and second guessing every option. How does PlasDeck compare to AquaMarine?

No personal experience with Plasdeck but have read it is hard and Super hot in the sunshine.
