410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

David, Aquamarine Deck is right here in Buford and I would recommend saving the cost of installation. Several of the Sea Ray guys on our dock have all had it installed and it looks great. Guy behind me installed hi in an afternoon with no issues. I ordered the cheap stuff for the swim platform and had it cut using a template. Came out fine but not as nice as the good stuff.

Anyone know what size the rudder packing nuts are? Mine are dripping after launch, chances are it’ll stop after a day or two but I’d like to repack them eventually anyway

also, I assume you need two wrenches? One to hold the bottom but and the other for the top?

Any intel on how it holds up to dog nails?

Greetings, fellas. Have any of you guys replaced your hot water heater? Any tips on a drop-in replacement? I measured mine at 16” cubed but it seems the units being sold may include the flanges in the depth measurement?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

I replaced mine with a larger capacity and relocated it between the transmissions. I also bent up a piece of aluminum diamond plate that sits on top of it making a nice step into engine room. The result is about 70lbs of weight more forward. The more forward I can move the boats c.g. the better the performance.

This sounds quite interesting. Any chance you have a photo or two? How big did you go?

Well I noodled over your relocation project yesterday, Riptide, but decided to take the easy way out. I ordered up an 11 gallon Kuuma this morning. I liked the idea of bigger but decided I really didn't want to replumb the whole dang thing. Particularly when we rarely run out of hot water.

Thanks again for sharing though.

After seeing all the pics now I want to install Sea Dek. But don’t want to spend the money haha. Got the old girl renamed. Now if the STBD engine would behave life would be good. Stayed the night on her at anchor sat night. Was a good time.

I need another winter project like I need a hole in my head. Anyway, here it is.
I decided to make a jig that fit the shape of the arch. This was used to lay core material over in the correct shape.

I then glassed and gelcote the core. This will be sanded smooth, flat spots rounded Andre gelcoted

Glass applied to core.

Part pulled off leading edge of arch attached to top not yet trimmed.

Final shape to top.

Top with external supports to stiffen it up for test fit on boat. More glass and core trim needs to be applied to the inside.

test fit on boat. It will appear thicker after inside trim/stiffening core is applied. Final edge thickness should be about 1 1/4

inside core being applied. I still have a long way to go. The outside still needs more sanding, shaping and gel cote.
Any further progress on your hardtop? Did I miss something? That’s the one thing I’d like on my boat. Good luck!
