Uncle Sam is sending us to McDill AFB in Tampa. As I weight the cost-estimate of moving our 310DA down there either by trailer or its own power from D.C. (or sell it and buy a new one there), we need to find a new home for it. Not looking for a high end/high dollar marina. Just something with power, water, fuel near by, and good water to get out and in regardless of the tides. Floating docks are preferred but not a deal breaker. Low cost is the goal. I know you get what you pay for, but need to start seeing what's out there. Thanks in advance for any advice, recommendations, or places to avoid.

Regards

Ben

Ben - @BubbaFrsh has a 420 that he keeps at Harborage in St. Pete. Maybe give him a ping.

It looks like MacDill has a marina. Are there any openings? My experience in the DC area is that the DoD marinas are a pretty good deal. (I kept a boat at Fort Belvoir that I co-owned with my dad).

Hello and thanks folks. Believe it or not the 310DA is kept at Belvoire. McDill can handle it, just seeing what's out there... plus we have a 28' sailboat with a 5' draft that draws too much for McDill, which said 4' is about the max they'd recommend bringing in.

My 320 is in the dry storage at Harborage. The St Pete Municipal Marina is an option. There are also several marinas closer to Tampa, which you may or may not want. I live closer to Tampa, but enjoy the St Pete location better, closer to where we boat.

Wow, with the skinny water getting into Belvoir, that must be fun!

Keesler has a huge marina. Is McDill's very nice? We had a boat landing on Maxwell, no marina when I was there.

our favorite for weekends is the Twin Dolphins on the Manatee River in Bradenton. Its a 45 minute cruise from our dock in St Pete Beach. We do not know what the rent is for staying there permanently.

I am at MacDill for work. There is no marina on base, beyond what MWR manages for rentals.
We have an 03 Sundancer 280 and keep it in Apollo Beach, at Land's End Marina. They have wet and dry storage, but cannot put a 310 in the high and dry, but should have wet slips available. Good location in the center of Tampa Bay providing access to the Gulf and the North part of the Bay. Also a very good service department. I have had 3 boat there over the last 13 years. It's about 30 minutes from the base, but depending on where you live could be closer.

Did something change, I am PCS’ing there next month and was told MWR has long-term wet slips. I have a SDX250 and was looking forward to keeping it on the base marina.

I have never seen them, if there are, there are very few. I know there is dry storage and ramps...

I stopped there yesterday, after dropping off my boat at MM Clearwater for service. The long term wet slips are managed by Outdoor Rec, not the Base Marina. For my 250 @ $6.00/ft, I'm looking at $150/month.

We dry stack at Little Harbor Marina in Ruskin just south of Apollo Beach and they had the most reasonable rates when we brought our boat in last year but they are raising rates in June. Probably other marinas are too. They have wet slips available and would be worth considering.
