Hi gents,
Our glorious leader has put us (Ontario) in lockdown until 20th May....
Including marinas! So I can’t get to the boat before it’s launched to buff the topsides. The “Ford” does not listen to the scientific community, I have worked hard all winter and so looking forward to getting on the water. Very frustrated with the nay sayers who still say COVID is a hoax, plus the anti mask idiots."......grrrrrr.
Cheers Rob

Hard to tell what side of the fence you are on.

If everyone is vaccinated, then what is to fear if you are vaccinated and someone isn't? Screw the local governments and their restrictions. Clearly they are using the China Virus for their own political purposes if the majority of people have been vaccinated.

Florida disagrees with you....

Yes I’ve had the shot, but unfortunately the powers that be are scrambling for vaccines. We are in short supply.

My brother in law had the astra and was sick for week!

Just checked the stats. Florida's got 24% of its population fully vaccinated as of April 17th so Florida seems to put some faith in the shot. The highest stat is from Maine at 32% which isn't a huge spread. Canada as a whole is less than 2% fully vaccinated. No wonder we have an issue of cases and hospitals filling up with severe covid patients vs a nation with over 10X the number of covid resistant people...

We wouldn't have the need to lock down our world if our supreme leftist leader would have secured adequate supplies of vaccine. Then again, it may just be Trudeau's plan to drive our nation into full dependence on the government. After all, he himself said that this pandemic was an "opportunity for a great reset" and proper vaccine supply would probably diminish his window of opportunity.

I've had my first shot only because I'm a caregiver for my 98yr old mother. The second shot is supposed to be given 3 weeks later, but the government has approved a 16 week spread between shots (only due to lack of supply - not suggested by the drug manufacturer). Who knows if it will still work with that gap. No side effects for me from Pfizer's shot.

The guy's just a simple tyrant. Follow the science. Outside is good. Boating is outside. Therefore, boating is good. Let your people go.

They have been reporting on the news here the last few days that they have had open, no appointment drive up vaccines and only use up about 1/2 of them. One site said they had 6000 and only used 3000. Not sure if they had to throw the rest out or what. Seems more people don't want the vaccine than do.
I haven't got the vaccine and wasn't eligible here in PA until last week but I felt symptoms on the 5th and tested positive on the 8th. Me and my wife are 52 and we both tested positive. She felt a little sore and achy for a day or two and had a cough for a few days. Mine lasted a little longer and still have a slight cough but overall it wasn't as bad as a normal cold for me. Still not sure if or when I will get the vaccine.

You should be good for at least 6 months.

The problem with the vaccine even after you get it, there is no letup. Still need masks, distancing, etc. Common folks figure what's the point then.

Honest question,

Honest question, what if you just went to your boat to work on it? Could you be arrested? (Assuming it’s not behind a fence or something)

Here’s an idea. Vaccines are almost 100% effective at preventing severe illness. As soon as they are available for everyone that wants one, open everything up. Hospitals will only be full of those that chose to not get vaccinated. Let them take their chances on whether a bed or vent will be available. They made their choice.

So if you can open it up when, like you say “when a vaccine is available for everyone”.... why can’t those with a vaccine walk around freely now ?

There's a couple of problems. The marina is closed to the public except by appointment. This is by government order. They are still allowed to launch and repair boats. If an owner sneaks in, you can put the marina at risk of being shut down.

The other issue is right now we are in a lockdown. We are only supposed to leave our houses for specific reasons (groceries, exercise, doctor). You can be asked by the police why you are out, where you are going, etc. You could be charged $750 to $100K, although most charges would be at the light end of that, obviously.

I don't like it at all. It's frustrating. It's hard on business, families, young people...everyone. The problem is people that refuse to be careful (big gatherings, parties) and they screw it up for everyone. We also need to close our borders to flights arriving from high-risk areas. The number of flights that arrive from overseas with COVID on-board is unbelievable.

We do seem to be in a legitimate tough spot with cases and hospitalizations. I wish there was more focus on treating people at home before they decline to the point they need to be admitted to ICU. The approach is absurd.

"Hey, you have COVID...could be bad, so go home and do nothing. If you feel like you won't survive, go to the hospital."

Ridiculous...

Supposedly because you can still carry the virus and infect others. If everyone has had (or had the opportunity to have) the vaccine, there would be no one left to infect...?

You know that’s not true....our CDC says you are completely cured from carrying it or getting it....28 days after your second shot
Yeah...sounds like a politician's work.

This raises the other issue going on here. Our idiotic government has decided it knows better and is delaying the second shots in favour of more people getting the first shot.

They are gearing-up for an election and the stats sound better if more people get at least one shot, I guess. Trying to hide their failure in obtaining vaccines...

How many times do we all need to hear it? "its not about your health stupid, Its about compliance" Period!
Today here in Nor Cal things are actually getting closer and closer to normal. The Wife and I went for lunch at our local Chili's and sat at the bar with the most modest of restrictions. I asked the Bar Keep what the capacity was supposed to be and he basically shrugged his shoulders and implied that no one is checking anymore. They have one section closed off putting the capicity at about 50% almost every one I have come in contact with has been vaccinated, even the bar keep, a twenty something guy said he had both his shots. Masks still required for entering and standing in the que for seating is all.
Carpe Diem

People I know in Canada are 4 months after first shot to get the second.... I never did any research on it but it feels like that might be to long... normal is 4 weeks...you guys are 16 weeks.... so how long can you wait and get the same effectiveness....this surely couldn’t be studied....given we are a year and a bit into this mess
