Man are boat prices going up

Things are nuts. Called on a boat yesturday, a few hours after it was listed. Wanted to see it tomorrow. Ready to do a full ask price deal. Guy won't show it. Has another "potential buyer." I'm done with this chit. Ready to spend my money on hookers.
And blow, don’t forget the blow. Like peanut butter and jelly.

I wish I would have known earlier on that you would consider a 370. We sold an immaculate 1999 370 that’s bone dry within an hour of listing. Sea trial Tuesday.
I think I saw that one (weber yachts?). A little steep for me, but looked nice. Hope you got your price. I am waiting patiently for the bubble to burst. Maybe July 4th?

I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for the bubble burst, but we should all get ready for the inevitable inflation that is coming to include higher gas prices. I heard our lake gas will be $4.60 gal min this year

Ok, serious question. What is everyone's opinion on how long these inflated prices will last? Last summer we heard 12-18 months then we'll see a fire sale. There is literally no inventory of used Sea Rays from 34'-44'. I'm patiently waiting but with inventory so low I don't see these inflated prices going away any time soon. I think Covid crisis brought many new families into boating. Yes so e will get out and it will be too much for them. But I think many will come to love and realize what we have all been enjoying for years. I don't see inventory improving for years. I think this IS THE NEW market for at least 4-5 years. I certainly hope I'm wrong! Might be time to open up to the idea a few different manufacturers and models to find a decent boat.

I am in the process of buying a 2008 44 sundancer.. Price was more than I wanted but my broker (VP of sales at his company) doesn't see this going away (baring a market crash like 08) as new inventory in this size is sold out across most brands through 2022/2023. His estimate was used prices will remain high for 2-3 years just due to new inventory supply

The stories I hear about boats being sold have even got me thinking about selling my 2001 280 Sundancer. My wife and I love the boat but it sits at my house on a trailer most of its life. Then when I think about not using it the two times a year we actually get it in the water, I fear I won’t be able to afford a replacement until I am too old to use it.

2024 is just too long to wait....

So think about this, my wife just showed me a 96 330 w/trailer for $65,000 RUFK!! And I believe the guy will get it. I sold one and bought one this year and feel I got a killer deal. I couldn’t imagine being “boat less” so go with what makes you feel good.

I’m keeping it.
If I sold it, the money would probably get blown on something completely useless like home improvements or college education for the kids!!!!
:)

A fellow club member put his very clean 2001 360 Sundancer on Craigslist and sold it to the first guy that called in less than 24 hours for full asking ask of $99,500.

Yep. That is exactly what is happening. It's freaking nuts.

July 4th may be a little optimistic, but I suspect we'll start to see the correction by late fall or early next year, so maybe 6-12 months. This is just a guess because a lot depends upon the timing of when people return to their pre-COVID activities, the price of gas, when additional supply hits the market, etc. Until then, it will be a seller's market.

Brunswick announced a couple of months ago that it is ramping up production at its Reynosa Sea Ray plant by 58%, hiring on another 260 employees and starting to run production 7 days per week.

I believe it will take at least one more season to flush out the novice and uninformed. Lack of marina space, higher fuel prices (lake/marina), higher maintenance costs (B.O.A.T.), the time it takes to prep, transport, launch, enjoy, recover, transport, washdown, and repair. Then do that all over again in 5 days will surely cause a sales boom. We can only hope they at least winterize those blocks before they freeze!!!

When students have their loans paid off for free, they will be able to get loans for boats so prices may never be lower than they are now. Our used jetboat we paid 65K for in 2008 is now worth that or more now. Trailer boats seem to be where prices are highest. I have no idea what will happen.

The guy behind me in storage just sold his 420 Sundancer (early 2000's) for $40k more than he paid for it 3 years ago.

I agree with the "trailer boats" because there aren't any slips available. Our marina has a 240 boats waiting.

I just got an email from BoatTest, announcing the new Formula 500 crossover with quad V12s. Just for laughs I did a "build" and it's 2.5 mil right out of the gate!
