Bigger trim tabs

I

Hello
ALL trim tabs are super slow. They do not have time to adjust the boat as ZipWake does regardless of brand. It is an outdated old solution. Last year I bought a Mente Marine that does the same thing as Bennet's auto tab. BUT, trim tabs are too slow in the reaction, so I sold it and now bought ZipWake instead. The auto trims all the time and can change the angle/depth of its protrusion in 1.5 seconds. You have to test ride a boat with it and one that does not have it of the same model, then I promise that you will lose your chin ..
Cheers

Thanks, Roger. I appreciate the feedback. It's also helpful that you had tried the traditional (Bennett or Mente) auto system to compare. I don't doubt it's faster to react - it seems like a nice upgrade. I guess it all comes down to priorities for someone - balancing ease of installation and low cost (sticking with Bennett) vs higher dollar outlay and faster response time. Thanks again for the update!

Thanks,
Yes, cost a bit more but worth it.
I DIY in 3hours, super easy installation with standard tools.
Their instructions are just supergood
I have two 450S Chine and two 300s approx 3500usd included a 25% vat in Sweden.
I will upload some pictures
Cheers
Roger

I think I need to add the Zipwake to my 460. The trim tabs are tiny and really no way to add any additional surface area to them.

I was looking over this thread and a few others and added 18" deep X 28" wide to my 390EC. I did a cheaper route for a test run, had them made out of 1/8" stainless and used recessed bolts on the bottom side and a "through bolt" method to the existing tabs.
I did not notice significant gain on speed, but after a 4 hour trip I can drop down to 2600RPM and still barely hold on plain around 10-13kn. 3300rpm will get me 16-19kn depending on tide and wind. Last few years I never took notes but it would drop plain around 2800RPM and 3300RPM gave me 15-17KN.

I did not take any pictures of the tabs of the install as it was done last minute, but attached is the sketch I sent to the fab shop. Cost $200 in parts and the cylinders hold up fine with the extra surface area.

I you install ZipWake I can assure for you that the boat will flatten out at any speed, it´s kind of magic but true. Now I never need to think of what speed I need to have for this, it just goes correct in any speed. Another flipside is that it saves gas too, it´s of course a bit higher price than $200 but for what you get, it´s nearly priceless.
Cheers

I did check them out before my modification, seems odd how they dont lay across the water but more cut into it. Mine was done as a test to see how the boat felt if they were to be extended, it was a last minute decision I fabbed up 2-3 weeks before she went back in the water
