MEET & GREET ! WHERE ARE YOU DOCKED

I'm also impressed by these huge marinas! And even more so by the covered slips. I've never seen any around here so I guess we don't have them  Are they most popular in hot areas?

Here in the Delta, about the only uncovered slips cater to blow-boaters. I guess it varies by region.

I'm guessing you dealt with either Nina or Peter. They are great folks, as are all of the staff at this Marina.
Yes Peter and his wife Kathleen. We were there every weekend in July and the first two in August in 2020. Everyone is so nice there. It was easy to find a cart. Just a fantastic place. Our boat was originally at Ox Bow Marina. Once I put in the deposit, Peter moved it to Willow Berm and said it was the nicest marina on the Delta. I agree!

Hi Shoyrtt,
We’re a couple marinas down from Humphreys. Back in the “good Ol’ days”, it was a short dinghy ride down to watch the shows. Can’t wait from them to start up again, August, I think.
Stay in touch, We’ll hook up for a pre-concert beverage when you make it down this way...

Sounds like a plan Ed! It turns out the concert was moved again. We will be there now in September. I thought our governor said everything would be back to normal June 15th?????

There are no covered slips in Southern California that I know of. We moved our boat 450 miles south to be closer to home to an uncovered slip. I half jokingly said to my wife we should have made the 7 hour drive to keep the covered slip. Our slip rate now is double what the covered slips in the Delta run and not nearly as nice. o_O

Currently in Solomons Maryland just off the lower Chesapeake - Spring Cove Marina. Headed to Breton Bay off of the Potomac River (Home Port) next weekend.

At my own dock - Lake Minnetonka MN

I never experienced covered slips until I moved to Texas. After living here for a while, I believe they are definitely needed. The sun and heat in Texas is intense. I don't think you could be outside like most are without a covered slip.

Probably more popular in regions where we can boat all year long. Around Chattanooga I think most slips are covered. This is the Chickamauga Marina in Chattanooga.

I fell in the parking lot back in the winter and hurt my back............... Oh wait, that's a different type of slip.

I am in Kenosha at Southport Marina.

If you nit pick every boat, you won’t get one. I didn’t care for green canvas and interior carpet, but the hull and mechanicals were solid. Deal with it.
You made me laugh. I swore I would never own a green canvas boat. Well, my 2000 Monterey 302 had brand new green canvas when I bought it. Guess what? It was a great boat and I never really noticed. I hate interior cabin carpet as well, but now I know it can be replaced. It also had outdrives, which I swore I would never own again. I guess we do change the older we get :)

Regarding covered slips, they are not popular in Richmond, VA. In fact we are down to one hood marina that has them. As you get closer to the Chesapeake Bay you see more of them. The Potomac has a few but mostly uncovered.

After having my first covered slip I swore I will never have an uncovered one. It makes the summer heat/sun bearable and keeps the canvas/isinglass in good shape. My boats were always dusty though since they did not get rained on.

View attachment 105377 I am truly amazed at the size of your marinas. Your legs must ache from hauling stuff to your boats. Nothing like that on the Bay. Here’s a picture of my pier.

My "Marina" is 21 steps from my front door. If I have to pee then it's only 8 steps to the back pine tree.:D

Willow Berm is about the only place we go anymore when we head east, sometimes we stay for a night on the hook in one of the bedrooms on Potato slough, Great amenities and very friendly staff. Hope to see you there soon Bob.
The 506 is now Named Trevi.
