New Swim Platform

When I called back to actually pay for the platform, they gave me $500 off of the quoted price for having to wait for so long. Very nice of them to have done that. It does pay to be nice when dealing with people.
Completely agree about being nice. I’ve been periodically asking for updates on the unit I’ve ordered, not getting worked up. I’ve been told I will have an extra discount for being patient.

Yeah, I was also working with them as well, but decided to wait because of lead times. Jon was really great and up front about everything. But since I couldn't get the steps by the time the platform will be installed I didn't want to pull the boat twice.

Makes no sense to yell at anyone, unless it's DirecTv, as people aren't trying to give themselves bad names and really only want you to be happy with your decision so you will come back.

For those of you who ordered new swim platforms, can you give me a rough idea on cost.

The platform on my 330EC (13.5’ Beam) has rotten sections of the core. I’m debating a rebuild next winter vs replacement sometime later this year.

PM if you prefer.

thanks much.

Rebuild it! If you are somewhat handy, it is not a hard winter project. Once removed, all work can usually be done from underside. There is a fair amount of dusty work. Might cost you about $600 in materials. Good project to learn on.

I would have done this, except mine is just way to narrow. The new one is now 50" wide instead of 22". I wasn't rebuilding/fabricating a new one when I could get one that is proven for that price.

I’ve recored the fish locker lids on my last boat and am pretty familiar with with fiberglass and epoxy work. My platform could a bit of gelcoat work on the one corner (previous owner). I’d have to contract this part of the job. I was hoping new were closer to $3k because I would also like a bit more width on our platform. Got all summer to decide. Thanks all for information.

Finally received the platform today, the crate looks like it went through a world war. holes and crunches everywhere, they put the forks through the crate a couple of times when transferring from truck to truck. I almost refused delivery, almost! When pealed open the crate on the truck it looked perfect so I got lucky. Now just waiting on the yard to to say when ...

Glad you finally got it and it was ok. Hopefully you can post some before and after pics.

Absolutely will. The thing I didn't even consider was my dinghy davits. I am using St. Croix lifting davits and now the platform might be too wide to use them, might have to switch to Hurley or the like. But I will see.

So I am finally getting the platform put on this week, had to wait my turn in line. The platform was removed today and plans for early next week to be put on. Man this has been eating at me for what seem like forever ... That said looks like I will be needing to get the Hurley H3O setup and sell off my current davits. The new platform is a good 20-24 inches wider then my old one. Not sure I can get the dinghy over that much platform with out scratching the platform to hell.

I am wondering how many tie downs I will need for 10'6" aluminum bottom with a 15hp? Can I get away with just 2 or do I need a third some where?

I’m running 4 straps with my H3O. The dinghy is a bit squirrely once up on the davit. I doubt you’ll be comfortable with only 2 straps unless you’re just parked for the night.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well, but on their site they show a wave runner on it with only two straps and thought that was a bit crazy.

Yea, I think that is just for the pic... I run 3 and it is rock solid. I used one of these Accon pop up ties and it works great.... No toe stubbing once it is off.

One thing has become pretty clear to me on the H30 - the further out from the edge of the platform, the harder it is to secure. In @ocgrant setup the ski is pretty much fully on the platform, ideal. If you're at all cantilevered off the edge or, worse yet, are using an extension, it's quite a math problem to make it happen. And it's really hard to wrap anything all the way around a dink with 30"+/- of beam sitting over the edge.

First world problems to be sure. I'll be poking more holes in my platform this week :)

I think you guys have a good point. But if I use @ocgrant idea, it may work out well if you put the center strap on before you roll it up on the davit, then whip it around over the top and done. That might work.

Thanks @ocgrant for the link to the accon lift eye. They look perfect.

Just 2nd day'd the H3O to be here on Friday so the boat can go back in the water in the late afternoon. Hope I can get it installed fairly quickly.

... From what I've seen the quality is excellent. It's not on my boat bet but it looks great still sitting in my garage. :) ...

Did you get yours installed yet? Mine is half on as of yesterday.
