Looks like the water is dripping out of the rear of the raw water pump housing between impeller area and pulley area. Just a seal kit or new pump recommended? 30 hours on generator, also the impeller was replaced last fall.

Seal kit is a good guess without seeing it. While its apart change the impeller check the bearings and clean up the shaft.

If the bearings have failed and the shaft is scored badly then you may be looking at a new pump

ok, thanks for the reply! It is not noisy, just leaks.

Bought this after I disassembled my 4.5 raw water pump ,the bearings were shot , shaft scored housing questionable . Went to a westerbeke dealer they wanted 450+ For a new pump. Defender has the same pump for half the price of the Westerbeke ....Johnson pumps makes the westerbeke and slaps the label on.... Installed two years ago been perfect since https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=2605199

Thanks for the Great Info Joey!! I saw some rebuild kits on ebay for less, but new is better and it's a great price!!

Reviving old thread. I need to replace the water pump on my Westerbeke 7.0 bcgb. I have found the equivalent Johnson replacement. When I am putting the elbows on the new pump is it necessary to use pipe dope or Teflon tape on the threads?

When mine was rebuilt they did not. Jimmy might be able to tell you what they did to his.

I used Teflon tape on mine, both sides I’m on year three with no issues
, if I remember correctly it wasn’t because of a fear of leaking it was to aid in the over rotation of the elbows lining up properly
