When I boated on Bay Springs lake, we would visit with travelers going both directions. A couple had prop fouling incidents in Mobile Bay and had to remain there until repairs could be done. Seems there is a lot of rope and debris from the freight traffic there. Once you get to the coast, there are several marinas in the Gulf Shores / Orange Beach area, and a day cruise to Pensacola, or further is easy. Check the web, as there's lots of info I print.

We use to keep our boat at The Wharf marina in Orange Beach, Alabama on the icw- lots of restaurants, shopping, bars, Ferris Wheel, Movie Theatre, and etc... and a great place for a base camp to launch out from for day trips and weekend trips - lots of great boating in the area-

Because they don’t have slips because of the storm damage or unhappy?
We were there for 5 years and always loved it there.
