Yesterday our idiot governor went along with the nit wits in the Assembly and signed a huge bill that is supposed to save us all from global warming by banning the sale of gasoline powered small engine equipment in California by as early as 2024.
This includes lawn mowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws and here is the real kicker GENERATORS!
Here where summer time winds cause widespread planned power shut offs ( as I am writing this I am being powered by my generator since yesterday at 7:00AM and don't expect having power until 10:00 PM tonight) and thousands of Californians rely on back up generators several times a year. These idiots think we should just buy electric powered generators I guess, you know just use a battery to run a motor to turn your generator.... that should work just fine right? You know its like perpetual motion machine that everyone learned and a child is FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! The unicorn hunting dim wits that are running California think that if we just write enough laws, the problems will eventually go away. Uggh!

He's not saying you can't run one, you just can't buy a new one in that state. Did I understand that correctly?

A scenario... A landslide causes trees to fall across a road and emergency vehicles need to get to the other side. Anyone got a long enough extension cord? You know, since you can't even plug it into a portable generator. Not like an electric chainsaw would do much, anyways. This law (did it really pass?!?) seems so far-fetched I can't even fathom how some people would even think it up in the first place.

Didn’t he ask people earlier this year to not charge their EVs because of power shortages? o_O

I loved that state. It’s a shame to see it go.

I am sure there are carve outs for certain industries and government entities. Rules for me and rules fir thee.
As to why some of us are staying is simply too many Californians have left and gone to the places we would like to go but are already infecting the government there. Look at Boise Idaho for instance. Now all over the west the indigenous locals hate the transplanted ex Californians. They paint us all with the same brush. I’m old enough now that I will just ride the wave as long as I can then use my last bullet that I have all shined up and kept in my shirt pocket like Barney Fife had:p

You guys had your chance and it failed miserably. You get what you deserve.
You will find no argument from me on that brother. Not complaining by the way just letting you all know what is coming since as the saying goes, as it goes in Ca so goes the rest of the country. Tell me that ain’t the sad truth:(

The turd here(brown) has gone even further. Trying to kill industries (fishing, logging and ranching) with the anti kill bill. No meat can be processed. And cutting a tree is "killing" so none of that either. And also written on the back is the "green deal". To limit gasoline and to ban all diesel, propane or other than electric motors. And after a date ban internal combustion engines.

I remember many years ago, getting stationed in LA area. I only use bulk charcoal in the smoke with my smoking woods and a charcoal grill. I move to Ontario and they had a ban on the use of anything but propane. I stayed my year and got the hell out. Didn't even look in the rear view mirror leaving. Even had the pick up registered and plates in hand before leaving. 6 months after leaving, got sent to collections by the DMV of CA for non payment. Bastards even froze my out of state registration until they got their money.

But your right about other states being infected by the cancer. Oregon following Washington and Idaho fighting to keep as much as they can out. Not just Boise but the whole Treasure Valley has been ruined.

89P270 beat me to it. Buy a lot of lawn mowers, leaf blowers, edgers, chain saws, etc, and when the ban goes into effect quietly start selling your stock on Craigslist. Supply and demand works at all levels.

California is the fifth largest economy in the world in spite of chronic water shortages, wildfires, strict firearms laws, etc and so on. I feel like they don't really have a reason to care what the rest of the country thinks :)

My son moved to Santa Maria 2 years ago and loves it out there. 75 every day, 365 days. seldom rain (can be good (boating) or bad (fires, thirsty).
as Stee said, its the 5th largest economy in the WORLD, think about that. Its not going anywhere.

Nope. I think we should get those boarder panels rusting in the desert and build a wall to keep the Californians in.
