460 DA Owners Thread

Help all, I have Cummins 6CTAs and I am
Looking for a turbo. Marina says they are having a hard time finding the part or a unit. Any one know the part number and best place to get it? Are there any remans worth getting or rebuild kits? TIA

Hi all! We are anxiously awaiting our new hydraulic swim platform. Do you think there's a market for the old/original one?
Just wondering, and if not, disposing of it...

Thanks!
I am I retested in learning more on this project. Have considered doing it. Keep us up to speed on progress.

So if this is still the same as yours, how do you release the mid cabin? Couldn't find a latch or anything to move

Ours has a fabric "handle" on the top and a strap on the bottom (have to unsnap it). Just pull. Push and lift the top to slide it back into place.

Any 460 owners swap to auto trim tabs? If so, what brand did you do and are they working good for you? i'm asking because the bennett trim tabs I have are slow and it would be nice to have the auto feature. Thoughts? Comments?

As far as the turbo. I assume you have your old one. Many of us have used Dave at DMA turbo in Florida. They will come back looking and working like new.

460 owners, during the downtime (off months), I plan to upgrade all of my old outdated Raymarine electronics to Garmin.

I have the circa 2004 Raymarine open radar and am upgrading to the Fantom 24.

My question is .... is there a place for me to mount the new Fantom 24 on a pedestal there or do I need a pedestal? Surely someone has already done this here.

Thanks in advance!

Tim,
Two years ago I switched from an open array Raymarine HD to a Quantum Doppler dome which works better for my purposes. I simply made an adapter plate out of 1/2" King Starboard material and bolted it on to the existing pedestal brackets. Looks fine but maybe lacks the WOW factor of a Seaview pedestal.

The pedestal can position your radar so the other equipment on the hardtop does not block your view. I recommend a pedestal. But you know it’s an opinion so others will disagree. For what it’s worth I also recommend Furuno but that’s another topic.

Ok, thank you. I think you answered my question which is I will likely need a pedestal and the new Fantom won’t just mount up nor will it likely be up high enough to have an unrestricted view.

Great point(s). I understand your point on Furuno (was in the Navy for a lot of years and we used a lot of their gear). I am building out my NMEA 2000 network and I was slowly getting the old Raymarine out. However, I have decided to just bite the bullet during “Black Friday” and get what I need instead of piece meaning things.

If I end up purchasing the sea view pedestal, which one would I need? The forward raked one?

If you looking for a mount, the SeaView is a great product and it can be customized to what equipment you have. You have to specify the mount plate that goes with you radar unit, but all the hole positions are marked and easy install. The best part for me was getting the light bar with the Attwood LED 360 light to replace that old crappy custom one that came with the boat. It’s a couple hundred bucks all it, but it was the right thing to do to make it all look really good, and it sits at the right angle. They make wedge blocks if you need a little more nose down angle while running.

Thank you! I was going to ask if the pedestal would, in any way, block the anchor light, running lights, etc but I think you just answered my question.

On the sea view, would I be looking for/at the front raked or just a regular one? Sorry for the stupid question —- I’m trying to make sure I have everything when the time comes to get this job done.

P.S. - Looking at pictures, it looks like there is already some sort of pedestal there holding the Raymarine there and it makes sure the spinning radar clears Sat TV dome.

Here is a photo. Just a piece of Starboard bolted to existing pedestal brackets and then into radome.
Just an idea for a quick fix. I will eventually get a SeaView mount like 'dtfeld'

Would you happen to have the contact info for DMA and Dave? I tired to google but nothing coming up. I do have the turbo so would like to send it to Dave. Thanks so much!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving holiday!

As we are replacing our factory swim platform, does anyone have any ideas about what to do with it?
Any market to sell it?
Thanks!

I would list it here under the classified. Take pictures and set a fare price for it.
It might take a while however I am sure someone will buy it. I would also keep the crate your new one is coming in that way you have a easy way to ship the old one to whoever buys it.

I am in the process of purchasing a 2003 460DA. Is there a source for the owners manuals online? Sea Ray does not have them on their site.
