Hello, new here. Name is Jeff. Never owned a SeaRay before. Owned a few Formulas. Currently have a 2007 40PC with IPS 500 Volvos. Looking to go bigger. So I found a really nice 580 which I am going to have the survey and engine analysis done on Monday. Really liking what I see in the 580.

She has the 900 V drive Mans. Black hull. Does not have the ipad electrical system monitor (not sure of the proper name but it is located above the electrical panel) Looks really clean. Flying down to FLL Monday morning to participate in the survey. Hoping for no major discoveries. If all goes well and I purchase her I will leave her down there until the spring and then hire a captain and bring her up to Long Island.

Any tips I should be looking for from some of you experienced owners?

This is her:

Congrats - great boat - make sure you get all the service records and its up to date, even if it passes the survey with flying colors - after a winter of boating in ft lauderdale, you may never want to leave - I HIGHLY recommend a trip to the Bahamas before you come home (even if its "just" Bimini) - the season generally starts in June, but there are windows all year if your patient. Let me know if you need someone to check up on it once in awhile!

Thanks, I forgot to mention the 1000 hr service is almost complete and will be before we close the deal. I will definitely try to obtain whatever service records are available.

Beautiful boat… who is doing your survey?

Not familiar with your hull surveyors but Marine Diesel, Jack and his son Cody are the best in town!!! You are in good hands with them. They do all my diesel work. Great people.

These guys: http://jonesmarine.com/

Also have these Marine Diesel and Engineering doing an engine assessment

A few quick points on surveys in Florida from my experience surveying my 57 predator. When we had the haul out service done I had the marina power wash the bottom and clean the running gear. The growth, especially on the metals is nothing like we ever see boating up north. I arranged this as part of the sellers obligations and we had a successful sea trial after the haul. We did a run out before I made my offer and the boat couldn't reach Rated RPM due to growth.
Also my hull and systems surveyor was not good. It's Difficult to survey the systems on a 60 foot boat in 1 day. He did and rushed it. Best of luck with your survey and its a great idea that you will be attending.

Lol I contacted the seller and he said he already had her cleaned. Thanks for the tip and the suggestion about 60 foot inspection time window.

You should be impressed by the way the 580 runs.
The 900 MANs are a great engine combo for this boat. I have the same model in a 2012, not too many things are different between the models except for those that had the Eplex electrical setups.

Right that's the electrical monitoring system I was referring to, couldn't remember the name. This one does not have it

Overall survey went well couple of minor things that need to be addressed. Engine analysis was also good, some normal wear items need to be addressed. At this point I'm still moving forward.

That’s good news. Enjoy the new boat.

Thanks Kevin I'm in Merrick at Blue Water whereabouts are you?

I am sure you recognize the location in my (current) signature (taken right by Olivers Island and Bellmore Creek . Homeport is over in Wantagh and we have been wintering next door to you. You will find a bunch of active members on here that are south shore boaters.

About Our Marina

With a total of 250 in-water slips, we can accommodate vessels up to 55 foot in length

they made an exception?

Yes because I'm such a nice guy and have been a very long time faithful client.

Nice boat in your profile pic BTW what model is she?

How long are you going to leave it in Ft Liquordale? With a boat like that you should really get a trip in to the Bahamas before you take her up north.
