Rittenhouse case

You clearly don’t know what a jerk this guy has been for years and years long before Trump….. so he has always been hated… and now he is using fake news to get sympathy…. Typical scum bag
Did you miss the first part of what I said, I agree he is an A-hole. And arrogant. And is trying to use his celebrity to get some sympathy because likely his career is now going the way of Mel Gibson and he's not young enough to just wait it out. I get all of that. But the usually suspects would not be piling on, (in this post that started about the Rittenhouse tragedy) if he was not an anti-Trump guy. I can absolutely guarantee that if this horrible tragedy happened to an actor like Clint Eastwood, or politician like Marjorie Taylor Greene, the discussion would not be going the way it is.

Every single one was caused by improper gun handling/safety and usually not just
one thing being done wrong

I did take you at what you said.

That, to me, is the very definition of NEGLIGENT.

There is nothing accidental about it.

I don't disagree that he is an asshole. But you guys would not be piling on if he was not the guy mocking Trump, and instead was a guy like Eastwood.
I guess you missed the ‘hypocrite’ part of my reply. He’s also an anti-gun asshole activist .

I bet if the scene was for him to point at his head he would have made damn sure that gun wasn’t loaded.

This was no accident. He caused it by his actions and negligence.

the reason he is anti gun is because he dosen't understand the safety proto calls on safety. Between him being a

Sir I call bull shit on this post even though I think u have me blocked. Eastwood the man in my opinion. He has handled a gun a hell of alot more than Alec has ever thought about and never had a event like Alec. Maybe its the difference in a professional and a DA sir!

A lot of Canadians are emotionally scarred by Trump. I see it regularly on a number of Forums…..all spew the same liberal crap regardless if you are bringing up NAFTA or Alec Baldwin.

They seem to feel that they have to defend every wacky liberal thought because if they don’t…….Baba Yaga (Trump) will take up permanent residence in their heads and their children will start wearing MAGA hats.

I keep thinking about how this gun could have fired. I've never owned one but have shot them and do know how they're supposed to work. When I reread his interview these things stick out. My comments are how that gun in good condition should work, not a worn out, damaged, or modified one.

If you fully cock the gun, the trigger must be squeezed to let the hammer down. If thumb slips off, ka-boom.
If Baldwin 'let go of the hammer' at any point before full cock this is what should happen as long as he wasn't depressing the trigger.
release the hammer just before full cock, the hammer should stop in the half cock position, no ka-boom.
release the hammer just before half cock, the hammer should stop in the safe position, no ka-boom.
release the hammer just before safe position, gun can go ka-boom.

His terms 'I let the hammer go' are telling. I doubt that's what he'd do when the gun was known 'hot'. Some sloppy/negligent gun handling I think simply because he thought the gun was unloaded.

I hope that guns condition is being examined by an expert gunsmith.

This is what Baldwin said. “I said to her, ‘Now in this scene, I’m going to cock the gun.’ And I said, ‘Do you want to see that?’ And she said, ‘Yes.’ So I take the gun and I start to cock the gun. I’m not going to pull the trigger.”

Baldwin described for Stephanopoulos how he pulled the revolver’s hammer back as far as he could “without cocking the actual gun.” He kept asking Hutchins, “Can you see that?” “Yeah, that’s good,” Hutchins allegedly answered, according to Baldwin. “I let go of the hammer. Bang! The gun goes off,” Baldwin told Stephanopoulos.

All that does is blame Hutchins... He is basically saying I was following orders so not my fault

This explains what probably happened.

I have owned guns for 45 years and have never heard anyone make the claim that he pulled the hammer "all the way back without cocking the gun". It is just more liberal "not my fault" bullshit. Somehow elite liberals always believe that IF they provide even an impossible alternative ending.....they will get off. Just more Jussie Smollett crap.

If Baldwin is right ......maybe it was captured on film since allegedly she was looking through the camera when he pulled the trigger .......oh excuse me ......for the liberals: when the hammer slipped and Baldwin fired a live round killing his camera person.

I dunno, I'm thinking he's blaming the gun. Thing is, if the gun did go off exactly like he said it means there was something wrong with the gun. If he 'let the hammer go' near full cock without touching the trigger it should not have fired. That doesn't erase his responsibility in other ways but would sure change the picture.

How'd the real ammo get in there of course is the big one...maybe one of the unhappy crew got pissed 'screw Baldwin and his movie, I'll fix him.'

Oh yeah, Jussie Smollet back in the news...I can feel another good thread coming.

If he had his finger on the trigger and it was depressed before he cocked it, would it still go into safe? You know how you see movies and the stars carrying guns always have their fingers on the trigger?

No, then it would fire. That's how they fan them, squeeze the trigger and hold it, then fan the hammer. If those guns are already in half cock or safe position and then the trigger is pulled nothing at all will happen.

I watched the Bo Duke (John Schneider) video today and he slams Baldwin pretty good. He said that Baldwin stated he never pulled the trigger but then a few minutes later he said he was practicing firing the gun. 'Bo' says, so which was it? Did you never touch the trigger or were you practicing firing it?'. IIRC Bo also stated he ALWAYS checked the prop guns himself before using them in a film, insinuating Baldwin should have too. He also said the associate producer should never touch the gun, only the armorer and the actor, nobody else.

I take it this is officially no longer the “Rittenhouse case” thread? The captard @El Capitan might need to start another one now?

Ah yes, I’ve seen that…in the movies:(:)

None of this changes the charges against him. The gun was in his hand. It fired. It killed a person.
Wether the hammer was back, finger on trigger or not, it’s his hand, pointing at her, and while in his hand it fires.

Toast.

No @RBB, I don’t have you blocked or anyone else. I actually want to hear other peoples views and perspectives. Unlike some on this forum, I don’t think someone that has a polar opposite view from me is an “idiot” or “uniformed” or “sheep”.

And as a Canadian, I actually want to understand the perspectives of Americans. I actually think compared to most “foreigners” I have a pretty good understanding of the reasons why things are the way they are. And it gets better every day. I have actually learned a lot from this forum and changed my views as a result of what I have learned. The US is a very different place politically and attitudinally from many places in the world. For good reason. Its not perfect, but no country or system is. Countries cant be perfect, because humans aren’t perfect or cookie cutter products.

But I have very little tolerance for people that do not ever try to see other perspectives. Or for those that very quickly resort to insults in a thread. (Even those on “my side” of an issue). And my posts sometimes get a few people fired up. I hope none feel insulted. I do my best to not insult individuals. Challenged on their views is OK.

I agree 100%. That is actually why I added the word unintentional discharge. Probably should have removed the word accidental too.

Like you, IMO there are very few things in life I would say are “accidents”. If you get hit by a meteorite, that’s an accident. If you are in a car crash or a gun incident, that is no accident. There were a series of mistakes, negligence, and other factors involved, but no “accident”.

But many don’t have that same strict definition of “accident”.
