300 Sundancer questions.

All I can come up with -- is that the PO hit something, which I'm realizing after looking at old receipts -- and maybe part of the repair was to grind the bottom of the B3 smooth and put a skeg guard over it, painted black. Then I hit something this season and it broke off again?

Well, let's see how the job goes. It could be a one-and-done for me! Actually if it's bad enough I might start leaning towards outboards

Just noticed (after haul) that the stbd side skeg is broken. Here is last year:

And now, there's a different profile to the bottom. It looks like there's a piece missing but it's a nice smooth curve to it o_O

When I got the replacement (used) drive for our old Pre Alpha, the skeg was damaged. Along with other holes and cracks. I took it to the high school and had them weld it up. Might be something to getting another skeg and having it matched and welded up. I didn't have them just weld it on one shot. A little here and a little there. Moving around so as to not over heat things. After some slight grinding and sanding, it looks like new. And now it sits in the garage just waiting to be used. Or taking up space.

Vacuflush.jpg

New post:
Thought I would post my latest repair for those whose vacuflush may someday suffer a similar fate.
So, I lost vacuum to the head system, seal at toilet itself was intact as standing water was held. Pump was functioning when head switch in the control panel was engaged but alas no vacuum generated.
During the disassembly of the bellows chamber (pic above) noted the bellows have degraded. The duck bills 2 on each end seemed intact.
Ordered the repair kit from Marine supply and replaced.
Once replaced had leak from the pipe exiting the bellows chamber but was able to fix by tightening the pvc connection.
All together the job was not too bad once one gets beyond the gross factor :)

I know there are alot of threads on this but...2005 300 DA - I would like to mount a flatscreen bracket and smart tv on the interior bulkhead by the companionway. I believe there is plywood behind the vinyl that I can screw into which will be strong enough. Or do I have to thru bolt ( which I dont even know is possible). I dont know if the back of the bulkhead is accessible. Can I fish a DC power cable down to and behind my panel? Any thoughts specific to the 300DA appreciated. We will mostly stream off a cellular hotspot or dvds. Not interested in OTA programs or antennaes. The original TV cabinet will become some kind of storage

How can you possibly get through the day without GRIT TV?

What size TV? If it were me, I would through-bolt but I'm guessing (just a guess) that the largest TV you will fit there is something like a 24"? If so, and you don't want to remove the bulkhead panel, you could use either anchors / toggle bolts or something like lag bolts to hold the TV mount to the panel. For the 12v power are you looking to run it from the DC panel? Or down below the helm?

I think toggles will work well. I can go to 32in i think. I will run 12V from the panel probably stepped up to 18V. I think I can fish wires behind the tv thru the void behind the bulkhead over to the panel. Thats what im not 100 pct sure about.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think there's a void. That panel has space behind it but I don't think it's open to the space behind the AC/DC panel. If you remove the AC/DC panel you should be able to reach up and feel for a gap or get a camera up there.

Looks great, Chris!

You don't see too many with matching Sea Dek on the swimg platform and throughout the cockpit. Looks sharp!

Random question. Anyone flying a full size flag on their 300? Had one on my 260. Trying to figure out where/how to mount one
I thought about that. But figured I'd just stick with the smaller ones (12X18). If I cant make it myself, I'll just pay the high price for one.

I run with a 4' rod holder mounted flag pole with a 2'x3' 'Ol Glory. PO had installed 2 rod holders in the aft Port and Starboard gunnels. While stationary, I fly a 6' pole with a 3'x5'. I use clamp on rod holders on the bimini support for the big one. Both from: https://coolwaterproducts.com/colle...ole-with-american-flag?variant=31794791350383

I leave the camper top (not sides) up all summer, so the frame is there at the back.

I bought a couple of 3'x5' flags -- one USA and one MA state flag -- and put them on the stern-most upright for the camper frame. I thought it would be awesome for when we're out.

Problem was -- when we were out at no-wake speed, there was never enough wind. And anyone sitting in the cockpit seating complained that the flag was all over them like a cheap suit

So I downsized to a single 12" x 18" American flag and all good. Then I got up to 40 mph, and the camper canvas zipper imploded and the flag rings broke.
