For those in northern NJ, NY, CT, etc when do you generally put your boat in the water? Ever as early as mid March or is it usually April or even May?

I used to launch my sportfish in mid March off LBI. My slip now is avail from April 15 so ill launch then.

Depending on ifs a fishing boat or not I would guess... Usually for me I start working on it the end of March and depending on the to do list... Splash it mid April..

Last year sched for April 1. HUGE mistake. Cold windy nasty, was in big hurry to go nowhere.
This year I will launch after weather is warm enough to clean, wax, fix all the shit that right now I don’t know is broke.
Tiki bars open Memorial Day so what the hurry.
If I want fish I will open a can or get out of freezer at Food Lion.

Since I am in Delaware and usually go in the water early April I knew that it's mid April or even later. Just wondering when I could realistically close on a boat if it's in the NY area. Probably by the time the boat is launched and everything is ready to go it'll be April, then schedule sea trial, survey, etc and then close by end of April.

The spring weather has been so bad I push off until mid May.
I find this way everything is 100% done. I hit the water and go. All the debris is washed out of the Connecticut river too

By mid May you shouldn’t have to worry about freezing temperatures anymore in that climate zone. That’s when my friend in NY plants his fields.

2nd week of April the boat comes out of storage and sits on my driveway.

by the 3rd week, I cut the shrink wrap off.

2-3 weeks of tinkering and maintenance.

usually in the water mid may.

Knowing myself I'm not sure it would be possible to wait till mid May to get a boat to my marina. A million variables still in place but was hopeful with a good weather window I'd have a boat in my slip by April 15th or so.

I find that the later in the spring it gets, the busier the marina gets and if anything need addressing, I risk missing some nice weather. They're still a little hungry in March/April.

Living on LI most of my life, I always put the boat in right around April 15th when the lagoon opened up. Never had any issues, some snow once and a while, but didn't worry about freezing anymore.

I don’t know if I could handle the short boating season you have. Finally something about California I like

Usually late April to early May for us. Some years it’s mid May.

I look at the weather every day. Clear weather for the next 7 days, and I'm itching to ditch work and go play. Seas might be too rough but the big rivers are not. Just have to dodge all the homeless trash. A little cooler temps is better than ice.

But not in CA. Oregon.

They turn the water back on in my marina April 15. I target the week after that.

Mother’s Day weekend. My marina opens up. They won’t let any sooner. So 1st weekend in May.

At the Jersey shore I start outside maintenance late March to early April. I like to be splashed by April 15th which allows ample time for repair should any issues present themselves once in the water. I'm usually out on the hard stand by October 15th.

I always tried for early April in New Jersczystan. I’ve been in for Saint Patrick’s day once, but usually the weather or work had me in late April or early May. Usually hauled thanksgiving or Black Friday but I pushed in to December many times as well.

things were easier and quicker with smaller simpler boats

Down in Toms River at my marina they say April 1, but I try to get everything done asap in the offseason depending on the weather. I'm usually in around the 3rd week in March and out the last week of Nov.
