1999 340 DA - Lost my anchor last year, so I was thinking of picking up 35 pound delta. Figured it’ll work well on the Chesapeake Bay.
Probably had a 22#, but 35 sounds better.

your thoughts?

Bill.

A 35# plow anchor will certainly hold your boat. I had a 35# OEM on a 44DB and a 35# on our current 420DA and holds her tight. Add 25-30’ of chain and done.

Very similar in the 420/44DB forum. Someone saying they didn’t think SR put a 35# anchor on a 44DB.

A Delta will work on the Chesapeake... until it doesn't. Better in hard or even semi-soft sticky mud, but once you find yourself over one of the slimey/oozy/soupy mud areas, you'll see your Delta swim through it at whatever rate wind and current dictates.

We've had best luck here with an adjustable SuperMAX and with Fortress anchors. Latter sometimes said to have problems resetting with tide changes, but we've not experienced issues with that. We tend to keep the Fortress as a backup and kedge, dismantled and stowed, partly because it dismantles and stows, partly because they don't hang that gracefully on our davit.

Trying a Rocna Vulcan, now. (Not a rollbar version.) No actual use yet, so can't say one way or the other. Theoretical choice mostly based on anchor reviews by S/V Panope (see YouTube) and the Fortress Chesapeake mud tests in 2014... along with some anecdotal info from Noelex77 on cruisersforum.com and from John Harries at Morgans Cloud (pay wall).

Edit: The 44-lb stainless Delta I just removed is available... for folks anchoring where a 44-lb Delta is viable... albeit for pickup only, no shipping.

Not sure of the size, but I have a free anchor for pick up, from 46 Sundancer

Anyone ever use a Vivor anchor? Looks like a Delta, but half the price!
