Crusair No Heat

Yes, it was a single nut holding a stainless back plate. So, I took the solenoid off its mount on the reversing valve and felt the "hole" energized when selecting heat at the SMXII controller. Read elsewhere in here that its either "yes or no" on the magnetic field, no weak or strong. Is this correct?

Guess this means the reversing valve is stuck. Tried banging on it to no avail. Any hope?

How long should it take for it to produce warm air? Maybe I'm not giving it enough time.

Yes, that solenoid is on or off.

My working units make heat within 30 secs. If that valve doesn't energize it is just going to make refrigerated air as is is basically in "cool" mode without the reversing valve energized.

If you have an IR temp gun, run it in fan only and check the outlet temp and then turn on heat and see if the outlet temp goes up or down. Also, check in cool to see if it goes down from ambient. If it doesn't do either you may need to charge the unit or have a compressor that isn't running for some reason.

The compressor kicks on and the temp goes down on cool, but not up on heat.

Any suggestions on getting the reversing valve unstuck?

No, I'm in the same situation. In my case it is only 1 of 3 units so I am dealing with it for now.

Pull the unit and have a new reversing valve soldered in. The cost of the labor may warrant a new unit. I have one unit that works perfect and use a small ceramic heater to supplement and all good. In the summer, the AC on it will freeze you out….

My ambient temp is 59. Cool dropped to 50 and heat dropped to 51. No code on SMX thermostat.

Looks like it is cooling in heat mode as well as cooling mode. If that is the case, the reversing valve is not shifting. Either it is stuck or the solenoid is bad. My experience is the solenoids rarely go bad. Try tapping on the reversing valve with the unit in heating mode to see if it will shift.

Yours is doing what mine does.

I bought the bullet last year and replaced both …. Upsized both a little bit. Got tired of the spontaneous interruptions

AC porn….. with gages :)

Shouldn't they have dropped more? Wondering if I'm low on freon.

I have always heard between 10-20* depending on ambient temps. I would wait until warmer weather and give it the test. Where did you check the temps? At the air coming out of the vent or in the room? If yours are original, they are getting close to their life span.

Temps at the vent over the galley sink. IR Thermometer. Will try again this weekend. Its supposed to be in the 80's.
