i had a boat that required the rubber drain plug to be removed. i am a newby to searay. the slx has a pretty heavy duty bolted on plig. i am guessing i dont have to worry about removing the plug after every use as that thing is really bolted on?
any info would be appreciated

There should be a garboard drain plug, that can be removed after a trip or hard rain if you want to check for water in the bilge.

Some information for clarification ;) Whether it's rubber or, in this case, bronze, doesn't factor into removal or not removal. The purpose of removing is to drain any residual water and allow any rain water that enters the boat to drain right out.

There are two parts to your drain - that part that is permanently screwed to the boat and the center part that you remove by unscrewing.

Never leave the drain plug in. Leaving in the drain plug is poor practice that will potentially lead to flooding of the boat, until the bilge pumps die, then a submerged bilge/engine.
