Looking for 6 1/2" speakers for my 340

Brian, What amp are you powering those speakers with? I bought 4 of the MX650 also and still need a sub and amp. Also which 10 inch sub did you buy and are you happy with it or does it need more bass?? Thanks in advance.

Try fusion 6" dual speaker. 5" cut out and shallow depth with 200 max watts.

Leave it to Fusion to step up the game, nice job guys

One issue with a shallow mount speaker is reduced excursion. This = lower output in the mid-bass ranges. IMO, the 200W max means zilch. Also, plenty of 6.5" speakers with the same 5" cutout. thats more surface area with means more output and deeper mid-bass extension with no additional power needed.

I think some 'shallow mount' speakers are actually the same size as the standard version of that speaker.....the only difference is there is more of the speakers sticking out from the mounting surface....the magnet just doesn't sit as deep into the opening....I found this out when i was researching the Polk DB651 speakers.....they make a 'shallow mount' version but the speaker itself is the same size.....

If you went with JL 6.5's you can't hardly consider going with a non-JL sub! Sacrilege.

I used Rockford Fosgate amps on my install. I have a 4 channel running 50 watts to each MX650 as well as a 2 channel running 150 watts (bridged) to my 10" JL sub under the helm seat.

I wired my boat for a second sub (future) but quickly learned one 10" is more than enough for me. Even at my loudest moments I haven't heard the JL 10" distort...

Just left the NY boat show and picked up 2 sets of JL MX650's with sport grills for a total of $280. Talked him down and got a great deal. Putting them in tomorrow. ..

WOW great deal, how was the show? the last few its been getting smaller everytime.

Well I'm in next year for sure!

Just installed all 4 speakers. What a difference..I think I'm going to add a 10" sub and 250W amp! Going to order tomorrow.

Get the Wet Sounds HT-6 amp if you can find it. I am running two, one for the cabin, one for the cockpit, and they are excellent.

HAHAHA you got the bug!! It happens LOL!!

Gonna keep my stock amps and just go with a JL mono and a 10MX

Yeah, I revamped the stereo system three seasons ago with Polk MM651 speakers, and Wet Sounds Subs with the new amps, and added ACME Props. Last year, I updated the electronics to a e97 and a75 screens, paired together, quantum radar and Vessel View 4. In between I did the camper canvas and infinity flooring up and down....so I think I am done for a while.

I may have you beat...April 2016, Complete electronics with Radar, Infinity floor.....lol Since the boat was pulled in Sept 2016 = Bow Thruster, Manifolds, Cutlass bearings, Re-pitched /tuned props, Convert freezer to frig, Hardin water pumps, wires, plugs, fuel filters, Complete fuel lines, Complete new Isinglass, LED transom and trim tab lights, sand complete bottom...Now Stereo system...Damn now I feel sick and poor!
