I got this in the weekly boattest advertising email that comes out.

Ultrasonic waves to keep the hull clean - no need for divers.

Is this credible?

Opinions and/or experience sought.

I called them and inquired, apparently the tech has been used with success on large ships and I found some stuff posted over the years that it does in fact work.

the trouble for us is we’re fresh water. The rep said while it will keep any live creatures at bay, living algae included, any amount of ‘slime’ that might accumulate from freshwater will not be repelled. I’m not entirely sure what creates the slime layer but it contributes to the slowdown we see over a season. There is very little noticeable growth of much else when we haul the boat.
