Need to buy two batteries to hook up in parallel for my sea ray 40’ Motoryacht, going to get a marine battery at batteries and bulbs, will any marine rated battery work?

Rob, I'm guessing you are looking at replacing your house batteries? Can you share a picture of the batteries you are looking to replace? Also, do you have a separate engine start or generator start battery? There are lots of options for starting, deep cycle and dual purpose batteries. They can come in different chemistries such as flooded (aka lead acid), gel, AGM and lithium. To answer your question, we need more information about your boat.

It is a 2006 Sea Ray 40’ Motoryacht, has two batteries for the port engine and two for the starboard engine, both battery sets also power various lights outlets and pumps. I have separate batteries for my bow thruster. I am not at home until Friday if you need a photo of the old battery, thanks.

Yes pictures will definitely help

Sounds like the standard SR diesel set up. Two batteries for each engine that are used for starting and the house. Starboard handles the starboard engine and the helm electronics and port handles the port engine and the house. I run my gen anytime I unplug from shore power so I have had good success with lead acid group 27s. People swear by the AGMs, but I have not justified the initial costs yet. You can also look into dual purpose cranking/deep cycle batteries. Just make sure you get the proper CCAs for your engines.
