So the new to use 2001 340Da. with 8.1's as far as I know have never had the props off the boat . They don't show ay signs of damage . With that said should after this many years being on the boat would it be a good idea to have them serviced at a prop shop.
 
Cant hurt but if you are reaching the proper wide open throttle rpm not worth the cost imho. Others with prop tech knowledge would know more.
 
A pitch check, polish, and balance is usually pretty inexpensive especially if the shop is local. I had ours done when we got the boat (needed some pitch work done as well) but it also gave a chance to get a look at the shaft, ensure the taper was seating properly, etc.

I think it’s worth it

If your concerned about this then you should, just for piece of mind.

But if you have vibration or anything like that, then you need to. When your mechanic takes off the props have him check the shaft run out and cutlass bearings when he is there. That doesn't take to check.
