Someone told me there was a way to set up/modify the cablemaster tub with wing nuts so it could be more easily/quickly moved.

Anyone in 460 LAND done so?

BEST !

Thanks for the info on the steering ram. As I'm 6'1, 250 lbs, the shore cord tub and genset batt will definitely have to be moved. I'll report back when I get the project started.

Thanks again
Larry

YW!

Oh yeah, I am 5' 8" and 165...so we fit differently. :)

Looking forward to seeing your project.

I am yanking mine for rebuild and replacing the tie bar in January.

Mine is just screwed in at the moment, but would be easy to set up wing nuts. My only concern would be setting up chaffing protection for the cord.

You need these. Not sure what they are called, but have seen them at the hardware store before.

Anyone have tachometer problems? My yacht manager tried "switching" them whatever that means and they worked better for a while, but didn't last. I read of the sending unit, a magnetic pickup, mounted on the flywheel housing, back of engine. Could get some metal shavings stuck on it. Seems next step is pull that out and clean it. Pickup reads the gear teeth magnetically, sends signal to tach of rpm far as I know.

Mine work well, but those sensors are pretty easy to get. Slightly harder on the starboard.

I have noticed a little jitter on the starboard as the voltage regulators manage the alternator output.

School of hard knocks - Before pulling the hall effect sensors make sure to mark how deep they are threaded into the flywheel housing. There is a critical clearance between the flywheel and sensor. Too far in and you will destroy the sensor and too far away the sensor will not function correctly.

Here is another 450EB for sale, this time here in Southern California. I am not certain, but I believe I looked at this boat in August of 2020 when I was under contract for our boat in Northern California. DreamZ is a 2000, three stateroom model listed at 239K. I recall the striped bow cushions, but the gold helm and flybridge seats are new. Also noteworthy is the table on starboard side stern, blocking the transom door. Here is a link to the listing:

A picture of the stern:

And the USCG info that I already had on the first page registry. DreamZ was built in October of 1999 as a 2000 model:

No dinghy. 1600 hrs. Goofy stern table but perhaps pedestal also serves as a grill mount. Or, just use the table for a table top grill. Table on bridge is nice, hope there's a cover for it. Interior good shape. Looks like a sperate structure for a satellite dome over the radar. Price is supported by market, at least it was in July based on others for sale.

Anyone have a clogged ER hatch scupper pipe? I fed a water hose 8' down the disconnected hose with hopes of clearing a clog at the outlet to no avail. Turned on water full for a few seconds, made a mess of course, some gook came out. Wondering if there's a check valve at the discharge connection. Will have to disconnect at that point to clean it out. Of course, it's a real easy spot to get to. Rain will overfill the ER hatch gutter and wind up beneath port side engine.

I have not had that issue Jack. What I have found to be a problem is in my current slip, in a storm and an onshore wind and swell, my boat will list slightly to starboard placing the ER hatch drain uphill. The rain water will fill the channel/gutter on the starboard side and over flow into the ER. I'm looking at installing a second drain in the off season.

I had my mechanic look at my port engine to confirm my turbo oil leak was ok. In the process, he pulled both of my aftercoolers and sent them out to be tested. One of aftercoolers was bad, so I went ahead and had him replace both, seeing that they are 24 years old. Caterpillar has a 90 day delay in getting the parts in so no boating for the next few months. :(

Oh no, terrible. I couldn't go that long from boating. Last week we ventured out in 30mph NE wind, offshore direction but that combined with Gulf swells we got beat up pretty bad. Turned around back to Marco Isl. having only gone 25% of the route to Islemarada. Two days later, back to home port Ft. Meyers. Interesting on ER hatch scupper. Mine is stbd side but boat has a very slight list to port. Needs a second scupper. Certainly needs the one cleaned out.

I have not, and there is no check valve. You can hear the raw water from the AC draining through the ER hatch drain on my boat.

There is isn't barely 8ft of drain hose from the ER hatch drain to where it merges with the main drain.

I get some slight leakage onto the port engine during heavy storms. I have a whole new roll if weather strip and want to replace the seal to see if I can stop it.

Ouch on 90 days. Was it a pressure test that it failed?

Speaking of cooling, we went on vacation for a week so I closed all the seacocks while we were gone. Came home, opened them up and my port engine seacock seemed easier to open than normal. Shrugged it off, and took the boat out yesterday and noticed some wisps of steam from the port, nothing from the starboard. All gauges looked good, checked with an IR temp gun and had no appreciable difference between the engines on temp. Have to go see if we picked up something in the strainer and see make sure that seacock is actually working. Assuming it is a flow issue.

Well, cleaned the sea strainer and hardly anything in it, just a few barnacles. Used my freshwater flush to push 20 or 30 gallons back through the sea strainer. Ran to the marina for fuel and a pump to get ready for boat parades and had less steam on the way there and none on the way home. Must have knocked loose whatever was restricting the flow. Praying it holds until I get into heavy maintenance in Jan.

Here is my ER hatch opened up to see the drain configuration to port. We had a little storm pass through so I made a trip to check on it.

Yes a pressure test. I started to go the cheap route and questioned my guy about replacing just one, but he set me straight. Make it right!

Makes sense, they find issues. Well worth it, keeping seawater our of your combustion chamber.

Well, how bout that! Scupper on port as you noted. Mine is on stbd aft corner but the hose end connects to the port cooling water exhaust outlet at the bulkhead. Seems plenty big in diameter enough to handle even a downpour but gotta get the clog out of the discharge end. On my Yacht mgr list.
