I am in the process of buying a Sundancer 48 2008 demo from a dealer in Maryland. I would like to get a thorough survey before delivery so all issues can be discovered and resolved by the dealer prior to taking the boat. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good marine surveyor in the Chesapeake area. Thanks

I like Ken Henry who is an accredited surveyor out of Elkton but covers your area as well. His number is (410) 287-2028 and e-mail address is khenry1492@verizon.net. I've recommended him to others and who had positive experiences as well. Good luck with your potential purchase!

I'd also get Zack from Cummins Power Systems in Glen Burnie out to go through the QSC 500s top to bottom, and accompany you on the sea trial. Zack went with me on the sea trial of my 420DA and is a wealth of knoweldge on Cummins Diesels.

Bob has done several pre purchase surveys for me and I was very satisfied with his work.

You recommended Henry Pickersgill to me yesterday. Why aren't you using him? Have you used him before?

Thanks,

So Clarks finally found a home for that boat, huh? It's actually a very sharp, loaded boat... I can only imagine the deal you worked out on it! Best of luck!

And getting it surveyed is an excellent idea. As is the Zack proposal that Skip mentioned. You are in the drivers seat, take advantage of it!

I was recommended to use Randy Renn. Anyone have any experience with him.
He did my survey and I would not recommend him.

Try:

I used Randy Renn for a survey and was very pleased. His verbal report convinced me I was getting a great buy. The written report followed in just a couple of days and was even more detailed. Whatever the outcome it will be money well spent.

+1 on avoiding Randy Renn. PM me if you want details. Bad, bad experience.
