OK, this is a low tech, low buck mod but I am very happy with how it turned out (IMO)......... I bought the LED strips (3) @ 16 inches each for under $75 and hour of my time, not too shabby...

Simple mod that looks pretty good. i like to overlap them so they don't have spaces with no light. Is there a microwave in one of the cabinets where you can plug them into so you don't see the cord?

Yes, the hiding the cord will be the 1.02 release version...
If I drill a hole at the far left end of the run, it would come up into the microwave cabinet and there is an outlet in there.
I already had it going in the back my mind but yesterdays time constraints didn't allow for the revised version.

The slight gap between the 3 light bars is where they connect together... I suppose it is possible to push them closer together so there isn't the gap... oh well, another day.

Does the reflection bother you?

I have had the same LED lights in my kitchen at home for the past 6 months and they haven't bothered me......

I just installed these last Saturday and will let you know next week after I'm the boat this weekend.....

(but I don't think it will)

Does it bother you ?

Just curious why you went with 120v rather than 12v? They look great tho! Awesome job

Gotcha! That works.

Looks great, getting rid of the plug was the only thing that came to my mind. Just from looking at the pic, it seems it might be simple to just cut the plug off the cord, drill a small hole in the bottom of the cabinet and fish the wire up and along the bottom of the cabinet, through the back and then down to the receptacle. You could then hardwire it directly to the receptacle. Just an idea...

Re: LED lights added in galley....and other mod's

I could have started a new thread, but here we are still in the galley and it is in the theme... low tech & low buck.

The Mrs. wanted a more natural sink cover for the boat. I went to my specialty wood store expecting to drop a few bucks on some nice wood. The clerk said it's either going to be a veneer or maybe butcher block, because a piece of solid will warp, twist and/or crack due to the humidity on a boat.
They didn't sell pre made butcher block there, but suggested IKEA does... Hmmm !! So, for $40 at IKEA I got a 2' x 4' x 1.5" thick piece. I did the boat & motor home sink covers, cheese board and a salmon board out of this $40 piece of wood....

Good idea, thank you!
May I copy you and make one for my double sink???

Looks good, was the cutout reversal intentional?

What did you finish it with?
