Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Dave, my boat is across from MIAD, Doctors Orders. Yes this weather has really sucked. My buddy also had a Sea Ray 370 sundancer, called Easily Amussed, he docks over by the Ale House. Waxing is a pain, but I hear ya, I still have to wax above the rubrail. I went in May 20. This is my third summer with the boat, you will enjoy it, let me know if you have any questions.Tom

Swimplatforms, what do you want to know? This boat needed the realestate, and it gets used alot.

This is one of the nicest swim platforms I have seen on a 240 DA. Would you please give additional information on the make, etc.

Sure will. Actually it's a custom mod design. Meaning it started life as a platform from a 240sd. (sundeck) I stripped it down, then cut and grinded it to fit the stern of the 240da. Made all the brackets, and glassed and painted it to match. It was kinda plain so I added the Sea Dek non skid and that made it look nice.

So long answer to say I home built it. The rail around the edge is a borrowed design from some high dollar yachts.

Tom, I cruised past your boat this evening! Funny thing, is that it was before I saw this post. Such a small world. We took advantage of the nice weather and motored over to the Ale House for dinner. I noticed your 240 and we enjoyed your boat name. Glad I could get out for a bit as I will be gone (and off the air) through the weekend. Here's to June boating! Below is a shot of "Stray Boatage" docked at the Ale House.

Matt is right. I have a Honda 2000 generator in there. I use it to charge batteries, make coffee, ect.
I NEVER SLEEP WITH IT RUNNING!!!! hahaha for thoes that it offends, and I have two CO monitors, one with digital readout.
It works for me, regardless of the dangers associated with it.
For the record, I've only had an alarm once, ever. That was when I was rafted to other boats that didn't allow the boat to swing with the wind. Actually I've had more alarms from other peoples installed generators, than from the honda. You must keep constant watch of your surroundings, and aware of what is going on. I don't recommend using one unless you can be very cautious with it's use because things can go wrong very fast!

Ian, it could be used for that! haha Of course with the gen removed.

Oh, I wanted to add that I have a rule, if ANYONE I'm boating with has an issue with me using it, I don't use it.
I pass them my drop cord to plug into their generator!!!!! lol

I am on my second 240 sundancer, first was bought 10 years ago and sold two years later. Current boat is a 99 model with 31 hours on the clock. These are fantastic family cruisers and cheaper to run than the bigger brother/s. I am having one problem with this one in that shifting into reverse is getting worse. :smt021 Still figuring out the proper adjustment/s. If that doesn't work will shop around for someone who can replace the cables. Any ideas how much that should run?

great cruising everyone...:smt038....a day not on the water is a day lost for ever.....

cheers!

Rick

Today I bought a new set of Signature 4x4 bravo III propellers 18" pitch (four blades, both). Chad hooked me up with a solid deal, so I jumpped on it.
I'll be doing some tests, (very unofficial) to see the differences they make in cruising rpm, speed, hole shot, time to plane, top end speed, ect ect.

I guess first I'll base line the Merc bravo III three blades.

Untill then! Oh this will be for the 2006 generation sundancer with 5.0L power............

Hey guys,

I replacing my Clarion radio for a fusion 700i radio. So I want also a nmea2000 cable from the radio to the dash.
What is the shortest way to go? make a hole for the cable where also the waterpipes are going? So from the sink to the batteries and then up to the dash? Or is there a better way?

Thanks..

gr Marco

Would like to know if there is a big difference..... I have an 06 with the standard props and it is a b _ _ _ _h getting on plane with 4 people, full tank of gas and water...... Be interesting to see if there is a big difference........

Finally got a nice warm Saturday evening in Milwaukee and took a chance on the forecasted rain and lucked out. Docked at the Sail Loft for dinner.

Hey guys, looking for some input on repairing the bow hatch open/close mechanism. A frustrated child tried to close the hatch while it was open with the thumb screws tighted to keep it open. One of the rods was bent and the fitting that connects the rod to the rear of the hatch frame cracked. I was able straighten the rod fairly well, but wondering if anyone has tried to replace the plastic fitting? It looks like the whole lift/close assembly might need to be changed out. Thanks for any insight you can provide. Rich

I'd like to see this fix also. My thumb screws are gaulded so they won't move. Lucky for me they are loose enough to be able to move the hatch, but tight enough to be able to hold it open.
