Hi guys, was out other day saw temp was a little high about 180.got back to slip and thought I'd look around. It's a 05 280 4.3s alpha gen2 turned the blue knob on top and got some clean water out of the drain, fine. But now it just keeps spinning. No positive stop like on the starboard side and if I pull up on it, it will open. Two questions- is this just a drain? When under way, is this under pressure? Will it blow out? Thanks for any help. Tony

Yes that is one of your drains. Actually act more like a vent for your block drains. Definitely needs to seat. It will come out with the engine running.

Thanks for replying .should have have said it was the big knob up top near oil filter not drain plugs. Now the big question how do I go about reseating it . Looks like it goes into a plastic case. Not sure if I could split it . Any ideas. Thanks

is the knob in this picture?

The manual for the 4.3 warns not to run the engine with the blue drain open. I forgot to close it once for about 5 minutes and nothing really happened. It dripped some water in the bilge, but not a lot. I only ran it like that at no wake speed though. I remember also something from the manual about it being easy to strip if you over tighten it.

Hi guys thanks for the picture,it's the big blue one circled . Didn't really feel like I over tightened it but I guess it's definitely striped. Does this whole piece have to be replaced or do they sell a repair kit. Sounds crazy but only a few weeks left in my season can I do this in the water, or can I just rig it so it won't pop up under pressure. Thanks again tony.
