Mercruiser 6.2 MPI
Got a 2007 Sea Ray 260 Sundancer with a MX 6.2l engine. Within a month I have had to replace the water pressure sensor and the IAC. Now the Fuel Gauge and Smartcraft Digital Fuel reading have packed up. Was testing engine at 2500rpm when I saw the Analogue Gauge and the Smartcraft digital read out suddenly begin to fall until a few seconds later both read ZERO. The fuel tank is actually full. I took some ohms reading at the sender and it read approx 197ohms.
I believe that should be about right? If I disconnect the sender unit , Smartcraft will bleep and give me a warning "Fuel Level" faulty. Once connected back the fault dissapears but all still reads ZERO. Tried to set calbiration to default but that did not make a difference. Should I need to do a complete reset?
Also connected laptop with Mercury diagnostics and only showed the Fuel Level fault whicn occured when I disconnected the sender unit.

Please help...

I know this doesn't really help, but today I am down at my 05 280 changing the very same sensors, and I have been battling the the fuel since I bought the boat. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't

You might want to consider re-seating the connections at the rear of the gauge panel. It may or may not help but it is worth a shot.

I have an 09 350 and have gone thru 3 senders the last time the did it the found a floating ground they re grounded the sensor and all is good you could check that

Ok tx Dave and mainstream will check these connections

Well connections were OK.

Took out the Wema fuel sender, moved float up and down and gauges worked fine. Tested float in the sea , it worked.
Put it back in tank, Nothing!
Turns out float was sinking in the petrol... I have not added any petrol treating additive.
Could not see any holes and float did not seem to be full of petrol..
Have had to order a new sender.
I hope this is the last new sender I need. Its been already three different ones (Water Pressure, IAC and Fuel) within the last few weeks!
Why don't they make boats with the same reliability as modern cars. Cars don't seem to have so many problems from my experience..

I guess it's because boats are still for the most part hand made and systems are installed by hand not robotics which is part of it also there are a lot of different requirements and systems that are more intricate. Also I think cramming to much stuff into the basic boat.
