Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Ahoy, friends. I've recently become the proud owner of a vintage 1983 Sundancer SRV 310 with nearly new Indmar engines in it. I got in a barter, proving that the most expensive boats are the free ones. Anyway, I have her on the hard right now - she was coated in marine growth (on the trip from where she'd been berthed to the shipyard, full throttle got me 8.5 knots... her hull was REALLY crustacean laden). The hull has been soda-blasted, new bottom paint applied, new zincs installed, I'm almost finished installing new rudder support brackets, and I'm winning the battle with long-neglected brightwork. The old girl is starting to look pretty good. Before I put her overboard, I'd like to inspect the fuel tanks. Where are they and how do you get to them? Or do you? I can easily find the port and starboard fuel filler points and assume that the respective tanks are directly below. How does one access them from within the hull? Hope I can get some advice without me disassembling the galley or the entire head, only to find that if I'd known where to look I'd find access panels hidden by the furry 1983 shag carpeting.

I have a 99 310DA and I'm looking to replace everything with LED's, and possibly even have different colors for the LED's. Warm white, regular white, blue, etc. I just want to be able to change the colors of the cabin, radar arch, etc with a flick of a button. Any ideas?

Yes, I did a search for LED.. didn't find anything which was surprising.

JAYWOODS. I Converted all of my lights to LED A few weeks ago. There are lots of color options and changable color options for the rope lights in the cabin...as well as arch lights...but i wasn't able to fine a convenient system to change all of the individual led's around the rest of the cabin. i ended up with warm white in most locations. The cool white seems harsh. For the rope lights there are some nice wireless receivers that can be controlled by a single wireless remote.

Can you post your findings?

Recently change all dash gauges to Faria Euro Dress White.

Can't get the Sync gauge to work.

Did anyone know if the Teleflex module in our 310 (got a 98') is compatible with the Faria Sync gauge?

Everything else is working ok.

Sea Ray 310 LED lighting replacement. There are several threads on this already, but I combined some information and added some photos, plus my own experience. After converting my 310 lights over to LED, I thought I’d share my experience. This information is to REPLACE the existing lighting, not change it. No new instruments…just swapped out the bulbs. A lot of the initial information came from other forum contributors, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t give them a HUGE shout out for helping all of use with the mod.

My Two Cents
There are several issues regarding the replacement of standard light bulbs with LEDs. Let’s say that you get the correct type and size correct. Like a 42mm or 44mm festoon bulb. OK. The bulb will most likely fit, but there are other options…. Not unlike Goldie locks and the three bears. (it’s all subjective). Color Temperature ( or Color – Single or Multi-Color ), brightness, and beam angle all have to be “Selected” by you. Same goes with whether or not the LED’s are encased in glass or not.

My first recommendation is to find out what color temperature you like. So… order (3) 44mm festoon bulbs and try them in one of your arch lights or one cockpit lights to see what color you prefer (Cool White, Std, or Warm). Personally, I found the cool whites (bluish) to be irritating to my night vision. I preferred the warm white. Now that you know that there are OPTIONs. Here is some solid data to start with.

In a 310 Sundancer (2001) the gas vents of the port tank are blocked. Any suggestion how to gain access to the vent hose or how to unblock them? I tried to locate the vent hose (in the engine bay) but could not

Looking hard at the 310.Im looking or one 99'-01' .Really want V drive. Just wondering how the B3 vs V drive differ? I figure the B3 run a little faster, but thats not issue.Working in bilge ,handleing getting on plane?Any difference in cockpit noise with V drives? Thanks for info.

Good morning duckmnn. Working in bilge, many areas are hard to reach especially if you have a gen set. With the B3 the engines sit further back and do not have all the exhaust piping. Handling / plane, keeping bottom clean is important and that props and shafts are well balanced. Cockpit noise, I fine there is less noise with V drives on plane since everything stay basically underwater. The B3 are somewhat exposed when on plane. The nice thing about the 310 is the handling, overall ride and inside comfort. Have engines scanned to assure all system are working correctly and that operational hour match the dial reading at the helm or at lease understand why they differ.

I have a 1998 that has been totally gone thru. I can say the V drive is the way to go. The B3's do give you a little more speed, but every marine mechanic I talked to said stay away from the out drives. They tend to need quite a bit more maintenance. If your going to keep it in the water, go for the V drive. Next time your at at marine yard look at all the boats that have the out drives off for repair.

By the way mine is for sale :smt001 I can send you some pics if you would like.

I appreciate your response. In the past when changing lighting, it's best to order all from the same place.. or match the output in lumens. The lumens in my cabin are very close, and I'd like to keep that rather than having the AC and DC lights from 2 different locations. I was hoping to have a simpler solution for ordering these rather than from 4+ different websites. Everyone does LEDs differently, so I would like to keep consistency. Can you possibly consolidate? After reading through the post, I got a little overwhelmed. Most of my cabin lights are the same, except the AC lights, and the step lights (secondary lower lighting). I plan on doing the cabin first, then everything else later. I will most likely not be replacing the strip lighting. It's currently working, doesn't seem to emit much heat, and sounds like a lot of trouble to replace.

Hi all I need a help. Today I bought 16 spark plugs to put on the 350 mag with the v drive but once I tried to change them I found impossible to do it.
Is there a way to do it ??

Looking for the size of my aft table flush base mount.. it's either 2-3/8" or 3", and I don't know. I looked up the parts manual, and I couldn't find anything mentioning its size. I'm a decent distance to my boat, so I'd rather not have to make a trip out there to measure if I don't have to. I have a 99 310DA.

Mine was bent over the weekend by someone standing on the optional sunshade cushion.

I clearly understand. What I do is remove all floor covers and then being the process of interchanging them one by one taking time between them. Plug- rest, Plug - rest. There is really not an easier way. We'll paying someone else to do it. Important; tools, different extensions and ratchets sizes are helpful.

Mmmm It really seems impossible to reach all the plugs. Maybe I don't have the right tools
