I really love this site and everything it offers us all. Compared to some of the other boating forums (names withheld) Club Sea Ray is a real Gem; I really look forward to seeing what is going on at least a couple of times a week. With that said I received this month's edition of Power and Motoryacht magazine which when flipping the pages this morning this article poked out. Civility is becoming a rarity these days; let's keep setting the high bar standard here. I thought I would share. http://www.powerandmotoryacht.com/sightlines/keyboard-warriors

I saw that article. Power and Motor yacht is one of two magazines that I read every month cover to cover.

+1 on your observation.

I'm not surprised they called that one out. I went in there a couple of times. I figured I didn't need that kind of antagonism in my life.

I don't think there was ANYONE on there that I'd want to raft up to.

Good article. I never go on THT so I really have no 1st hand knowledge of it but, it sounds pretty bad according to this article.

I visit it regularly - but don't even have an ID on the site. Just read. Lot of in depth knowledge around south Florida after you sort through the discourse.

But oh my goodness, the acrimony there - the hate and brutal posts. Never had a desire to be part of the community.

Hey Mark, There is a new poster that had questions about the 470 model. His post was in the Classified section. If you get a chance give him a yell. He is new and was having a hard time with the search function. How is the boat shopping going? JC

JC - shopping is long and arduous, I tend to be very particular. Have 2 that are in our sights, trying to work out visits in the next 1-2 weeks, may make offer at that time.

We were on the edge of making an offer a couple of weeks ago, but found some bad history on the boat.

Lot of work boat shopping.

Good to hear from you JC - give me a call sometime to catch up.

I like your article so much. These things are new to me. I am very glad to read this.

I've been a member of THT for many years, although I mainly stick to the electronics and my regional forum. Its clear if you don't have a CC with trip Verados, you don't own a "real boat". Its also very fishing oriented with a strong cadre of professionals. To those who haven't been exposed to professional fishermen, these folks have let's say an odd perspective. Basically, they work on the water, so its theirs and they can do whatever they want regardless of good manners, rules and laws.

All that said, if you keep it in the right context it does provide some savage amusement. Kind of like our Honda generator threads on steroids.

Verados? Good luck with that. You must like spending all of your extra cash on maintenance while getting lousy performance. Nice choice. No wonder you bought trips - you need two spares to get you ho... ooops, wrong forum.

There's a lot of knowledge over there, but even more attitude. One of my threads spun out of control recently. A few guys finally helped me pull it out of the troll-filled ditch, but wow.

I am on a variety of car, boat and drone forums and most people are very courteous and helpful. Sometimes not so much - I was on the Chaparral site and posted a question regarding my Sea Ray (not a question specific to Sea Ray). A member posted back that the forum was for Chaparral owners only and I should refrain from future posts. It just so happens that I did own a Chaparral in addition to the Sea Ray. I kindly informed him......still waiting for my apology!!!!

Yup. I am on THT too. It can be quite the bashing site. For the most part I have stayed out of the fray. There was a thread taking shots at Sea ray owners that I was very tempted to wade in on, but decided not too. What's the point?

I am on it more for the fishing side of things. I have asked for charter recommendations for several places in Florida over the years and got pretty good advice. Once I retire, I plan to buy or long term rent a place on the water in SW Florida so I am reading and learning about the boating and fishing down there. There is some good knowledge on the site, and like here, a few regulars that keep things civil and try to be helpful.
