Greetings from SC!

I am cheating a little by posting to this board with a 1991, but as I am a brand new owner and it is a little bit of a project, this seems the best place for me. Hope y'all don't mind!

This will either be my "starter boat" or my "first boat" depending on how it goes. I want to learn everything I can about it, and see if we use it enough to justify a newer boat. It's a 1991 180 BROB, but beyond that I am not sure exactly which model it is, as the title does not indicate. The friend we bought it from thinks it is the fish and ski, but I don't think it is. Is there a way to identify the exact mode with certainty?

It runs GREAT, we had a little work done on the motor and were told it is in great condition.

The interior is a bit neglected, but with chemicals and elbow grease I have brought it up to an acceptable level. I am starting small with minor repairs, nothing expensive.

I am stuck on repairing the seat area in front of the swim ladder at the moment. A previous owner upgraded the engine, and moved the live well (I think that's what it is called) to the corner, opening up the middle section under the seat for storage. The wood they used apparently was sub-par, and is throughly rotten. (Just the bit in the corner where they moved the live well) Additionally, they didn't brace the cushion properly, so every time someone steps into the boat, it collapses or Flips. Now, I could simply throw in some braces and solve that problem for now, and probably will. However, since I have to replace the wood anyways, I would love to figure out how it "should" be and modify it. We do not fish, so while I'm at it I was considering putting a cooler there instead.

If you are still reading...I would appreciate any advice or direction. This has become MY project, hubby has his own hobbies.

Thanks!!

Welcome but around here we say, if we don't see pictures it didn't happen. We are also visual learners. WE will be able to help better if you post some pics of your project.

Not a live well but actually a built in ice chest/cooler. It came in a lot of Sea Rays of that era.

Try and get us a few pics of the whole boat and then maybe that area or the interior from a bit farther back.
Thanks
Shawn

I grew up on that boat. It was a lot of fun. Good luck and we'll definitely need more pics.

Ok my friend said it was a live well. It's pretty nasty even after a couple rounds of bleach so I thought it was. Anyways, I'm sure it came with the boat, but I have yet to find a pic of one in the corner, only in the middle. They also changed from the two-seater to a captains chair on the passenger side, and I'm wondering what, if anything, is below the base from that. I'm adding a few more pics, plus a few reference pics I have found. Thanks!!!
