I decided to keep and restore my '95 Sundancer instead of buying another. This year I had major outdrive work done which started out as a bellows job. Then a new water heater. New battery charger. Finally got my oil leak resolved. New stripes. A couple of gel coat dings fixed. New SS prop which I love. Redid the rear seat upholstery. Had my canvas redone then waterproofed all of it.

I realized today that I'm 100%! Still a lot cheaper than buying a newer boat.

That is all I have to report.

I get it.

Good. Now go fill up the tank and let's race on over to Rock Hall. Loser buys the rum drinks.

I slipped back to 95% when I found the stern drive gear oil reservoir leaking. What I thought was a simple job of tightening some stuff up turned out to be a typical 3 tripper. Good news is that the parts store was open and it was only $55. Parts guy says DO NOT MOVE this fitting on the bottom where the hose attaches. I try to fit the part and find that the fitting on the bottom needs to be rotated 180 degrees. I go back to the parts guy and he rotates the part LOL. Now I've got 2 black wires with males terminals on the part, same as the old one. I go to plug the wires into the wiring harness and I see 3 wire ends. I check my wiring diagram in the manual. Apparently it was hooked up wrong. Now I've gotta change the wiring terminal on the new part I just bought. On and on finally done but not tested. I'll prolly get an alarm when I start up tomorrow.

I was reading your first post when you said you were 100% and I was going to tell you that a boat is never 100%.... there is always something that comes up, but then I saw your latest post so I was right!!! boats will always be boats (a floating body that requires lots and continuous maintenance...)

Well... Crud. We'll have to hold off on that race, Paul. I'm at about 70% right now. I was on my way over to The Crazy Tuna last night. As I hit that unlit red marker by HMI, I started to to make the turn to port to head up Middle River, when I noticed that it was hard to turn the wheel. It felt like I had lost the serpentine belt. Just as I was wondering why the Smartcraft alarm hadn't gone off, it did. I dropped the hook, got the toolbox and the spare belt out and opened the hatch. Perfect! The belt was laying on the bilge floor. No worries. I can fix it in 10 minutes. I got down there and picked up the belt. Uh oh... Not broken... WTH? That's when I saw my seawater pump laying on the bilge floor. All 3 bolts holding it in place are missing / broken. Got towed back. Thank God I bought the unlimited towing from Boat US this year. Tow captain said it would have cost $800 for that 4 mile tow. Now I have to figure out what happened. Nothing felt seized up.

The bright side. After I got back to the marina, I got drunk with your lovely daughter. She told me all sorts of funny and embarrassing stories about you... :)

Well that's an interesting story! Sounds like it may be a relatively easy fix but you know how it is! And....dead men tell no tales bro.

p.s. The Stern Drive Oil Reservoir Replacement and Rewire on Mary Jane appears to be 100%.
