Can anyone recommend a cleaner or method to remove this stuff? It's caked on there pretty good. I have tried letting simple green sit on there with hot water then scrub and power wash it off with no success. Also tried acetone.

The loose pieces came off but the majority of it is really embedded into the non-skid deck. I'm assuming the only way to get this off is with some type of power scrubber just don't want to mess up the deck finish.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys I will let you know how I make out with the power scrubber and post before/after photos.

That old carpet is nasty when the backing comes off, I pitched it into the rubbish, scrubbed the deck nicely with polishing compound and replaced it with an indoor outdoor 6x9 carpet from Lowes job done for under $100 looks great.

Simple. Hit it with a heat gun first, then the scrub brush. The heat gun (not a hair dryer) can be on low setting. Heat will help release the polymers in the rubber PVA compound that adheres to the fiberglass material so well.

I would think that for the price this is a great option, but I would also think that this has a similar black backing that will eventually deteriorate and become nasty too and not last nearly as long as the OEM carpet.

No nasty backing just woven. Should last a few years but when it begins to deteriorate pitch it in the trash and replace. Most are used on a porch, deck or patio mine is made of a woven plastic made to look like hemp I have a larger one under the outdoor furniture at home that is 4 years old and is still in good shape and it’s not under sunbrella canvas as it is on the EC.
