I am in the middle of the install but have played with the unit alot on the bench (without radar). It looks to be a great combination and definitely easier to use then my old unit - I can't wait to finish. Unfortunately its part of a multi stage electronics project so it will probably be at least another week. I know of at least one other owner that put one (@TFarber) and maybe he can give a little bit of an update on the in use portion.

For the transducer I am going to reuse my exiting P79 Airmar even though I purchased the RV unit. I am going to evaluate from there at to whether I should upgrade and to which one. The guys over at BOE helped me figure out what cables were needed based on what I had already. I picked up my units from them and I would recommend giving them a call.

When this phase is done I plan on retiring my Garmin and adding in a 7"inch Axiom networked with this one.

I have been looking at 340's. Can anyone tell me if the engine access is better/ easier on the 2003+ 340's vs the 99-2002. It appears the access might be better on the later gen design b/c it looks like the hinges are further back, but I am not sure.

Also, I know the galley is slightly different, dose the fridge sit lower or, is it a smaller unit on the 03+.

I believe the 2003.5+ will give you slightly better engine room access do to the way it hinges further back - with v-drive both a tight. I am not sure about actual usable size of the refrigerators but the 99-2003 show as 3.4cf and the 2003.5+ shows as a 3.9cf.

If your really serious about getting a closer look PM and since your somewhat local I can probably make arrangements to see both as I have a 2004 and a few friends at my marina with the earlier model.

Thanks Kevin. I’m sending you a PM now

Does anyone have a pic of their cockpit drain? Below is mine. Not sure if this is how the factory did it or if it was hacked up by the previous owner.

Looks very similar to mine. Been looking at it a lot as I am planning on replacing the sink. Not sure about the white ring at the bottom though.

Yep found another picture - it an archive picture not my boat - but it looks like the same setup. (why do I have all these pictures )

Not sure if this is appropriate or if we all even want to start anew with a separate thread for just our model years. While our size is close that is about where it stops in terms of similarity to the 98-03 340 model. Unless repowered we don't share the same engine or drivetrain, and all of the systems are reconfigured.

It's just getting tough to wade through 800 some posts with a mix of models.

Just a thought. If nobody wants to do it no big deal.

I think it's a GREAT idea. I have a 2000 340 DA and I would really like to talk about issues with the people who have similar boats and who can help resolve issues or answer question specific to our model range.....

Mine is exactly like that. I was installing a tv this past weekend and I had the fridge out to run the power cable. When I put the fridge back in, I accidentally pulled the white gasket right off hose and all. I was surprised how easy it came off. Anyway slid it back on and all is well. I will likely apply some sealant/adhesive to better secure it.

I am looking to see if anyone knows the exact path that the coax cable takes from the Glomex antenna on the arch to the Glomex amp controller in the forward port closet as well as from the coax input in the transom locker.

I am looking to relocate the amp controller and keep the cable paths as short as possible for my TV project. Ideally I would like to relocate it to somewhere near the power distribution panel either in the storage above the couch or in the storage in the mid cabin.

From there I will be feeding the TV on the bulkhead, a receiver in the after storage compartment to feed the flip down TV and eventually a TV in the cockpit. I am really trying to remove a loop forward and back.

Any help and direction would be appreciated. My other alternative would be to run RG6Q from the Glomex down as a new home run and abandon the old - just trying to keep from attempting to rewire the boat.

I will also be using this to feed the output of FireTVs to any attached TV behind the amp.

Good morning. 2006 340. Anyone know what is in the area under the cushion that is under the stbd closet mirror? And what is the trick to accessing it. The admiral is wanting to use it for shoe storage, hinge the top, but I just cannot figure out how to get into it to see if it is even feasible.

I have been trying to figure out how to get in there since I go the boat too! I would love to recover that area for some type of storage.

I can not envision anything of use in there outside of a few wires. I am thinking it may have been attached from behind and the entire piece attached as one. I keep peeking under the port side step by the galley to figure that out too.

Went to boat and the batteries were dead. Hooked up to shore power. Have intelintelli-power marine model pd2040 a/c converter. Is there a fuse?

I know I have read about this several times, but like anything else - cannot seem to find it now. 496mag B3 drives 2006 340. Reference fuel usage. I used to cruise at 3250-3300 and that would put me at or around 30-31mph and burn according to the SmartCraft @ .9mpg Seems now (just this year), to maintain the 30, I am needing to run at 3400 and am burning .7mpg. Would new plugs be first thing to do? I didn't change them last season, but did the season before. I hear different opinions that I should get at least 300 hours out of a set, only about 100-125 hours on current set, others say less and still others change seasonally. Opinions from those with same/similar setup greatly appreciated. Only 3rd season with boat and love it. Learning to keep these motors at as close to 100% as possible is quite a learning experience. Thanks in advance.

So um ...did you guys know about the two massive storage compartments under the forward portion of the v berth? I just discovered those. Wow.
