    Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Hey guys, looking for some input on repairing the bow hatch open/close mechanism. A frustrated child tried to close the hatch while it was open with the thumb screws tighted to keep it open. One of the rods was bent and the fitting that connects the rod to the rear of the hatch frame cracked...

    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

H folks. I am considering bumping up to a 2004 280DA with twin 4.3 alpha's from my current 240DA. I haven't owned a boat this large before or had twin screws, and I have a couple of questions. Those with the 4.3's, do you feel the power is adequate for getting out of the hole and crusing...

    Opinions on a 06 240 I found

I have owned a 2006 240DA with similar hours and features for 3 years and have been very happy with it. It seats 5 comfortably, but for overnight trips 4 is more practical. I was considering selling it earlier this year and was looking to list it at 38k, so 30k sounds like a good deal.

    Engine Temp Way Below Normal

Quick update. After talking to local marine store, I took out the thermostat and cleaned it up. There were a few pepples around the base of the thermostat and housing. Just to rule out the thermostat I replaced it. Upon starting, the engine came up to temp - but the smartcraft "check engine"...

    Engine Temp Way Below Normal

Great point. The engine temp didnt nose dive to zero, but slowly descended from normal to gauge bottom within 5-8 minutes while running. Even with wide open thermostat you wouldnt think it would cool down that much. So maybe the sand experience and timing of the temperature issue is a...

    Engine Temp Way Below Normal

Hoping to get some advice. We're on vacation on Castlerock Lake in Wisconsin with the boat. Its the 4th largest lake in Wisconsin but its relatively shallow with a sand bottom (up to 36 ft depth max). Well, despite my efforts which included ordering and memorizing a lake map with depths...

    Castle Rock Lake Wisconsin

Hi, does anyone have experience cruising on Castle Rock Lake? I'm heading up there in a week and was looking for some information on any boating hazards, cool things to see etc. Thanks.

Looking For Input From Experienced Haulers

Thanks for the ongoing comments. I appreciate the advice from those that have hauled many times. I agree having a good spare is a must-have. I havent decided if I'll splurge on the WD hitch. The expedition specs say the tow capacity greatly increases with a WD hitch, but the downside...

Looking For Input From Experienced Haulers

Bt Doctur, "check" on remaining calm! wondering what you mean by "holding the disconnect" when backing down the ramp? Do you mean the emergency brake release? thanks.

Looking For Input From Experienced Haulers

MM, don't plan on any pikes peak routes! Good point about the "extra's" that will increase the trailer weight. Since I'll have the boat at a marina while vacationing, I'm going to drain the water and try to run the gas down below 1/2 before the trip. The hitch on the Expedition is a class IV...

Looking For Input From Experienced Haulers

Thanks for the feedback. Now that I've had my coffee, I see I made a minor slip in my post. I have a 240 DA (sundancer), not sundeck. All of the weights I posted are accurate. All of the advice still applies! Thanks.

Looking For Input From Experienced Haulers

Hi Guys. I've owned a 2006 240 DA for three years, but have always had it in the slip. It came with a dual axle Vanguard trailer which I have never used! We're vacationing 100 miles away and want to bring the boat. The boat weighs 5500 lbs dry, and I think the trailer weighs 1500 lbs - but I...

    water leak 2008 240 sundancer

I have a 2006 240, there are few places to check for water. The refrigerator, ac (if you have that) and shower drain to the shower sump under the step. When the sump over flows, the carpet gets wet. Perhaps the float and/or sump pump are faulty.

    Oil Pressure

Great day of boating in Madison, Wi. Excellent weather and Aquapalooza today on lake Mendota. I am paying more attention to the oil pressure on my 6.2 stoker mercruiser since I have a slight rear crankshaft seal leak which I have scheduled to be replaced in August. While pulling the kids...

    Engine Oil Leak

I bought an '06 240 DA in May, which included a 1+ yr old 6.2 mercrusier 383 stroker engine. After a few hours of operation, I noticed a small amount of oil in the bilge. I had the boat pulled from the slip for some other work (water pump) and had them check the oil leak. They believe the oil...

    Leaking window

I was able to stop the leak by tightening the internal tabs that apply pressure against the window to the rubber seal. Thats the good news. I still occasionally get water on the front cabin floor from somewhere. Many good ideas in this forum on what to check - I just haven't found it yet!

    320 Sundancer- Step LED light

I have a different boat (240 DA), but I replaced the cabin step light and the cockpit lights with blue LED's from superbrightleds.com. Quick delivery and lights are a great change from the standard lights.

    Cleat Replacement- 240 DA

I have the same year/boat, and will take a look when I am out at the marina later this week. It sounds like you've checked all of the obvious places, however. Rich

    Engine Temp Alarm

It was a short trip back to the marina (1/2 mile), and I purposely cycled the engine on/off and coasted as much as I could. Doing it this way the engine temp never even got to the normal operating temp of 165. Based on the responses, I'm going to check the pump pressure and then thermostat...
