Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

She looks great. Don't let her go for much less than that. I didn't ;) Extra space is nice but your pictures make me miss my 290, a little...

1998 SR 290 Sundancer - Little Ducky II

Nice boat. We had one for a few years. I've been through quite a bit of mine as well.

    which Handheld spotlight?

Stanley fat max LED is pretty nice. High and low beam. 110v and 12v rechargeable. Not waterproof, but it was only about $50.

    Coupler gone

I really enjoyed our 290 but having a bilge I fit in and V drives is pretty nice now.

    My Garmin fuel meter installation

I opted for Fox Marine boxes to pick up my engine data and fuel consumption as my engines are EFI and have computers. Just another consideration if you are fuel injected for just a few dollars more. I get temp, rpm and fuel consumption. If I remember correctly it was ~$550 for the setup on twins.

    Back to the fridge situation.......

Dual voltage fridges are expensive but in my opinion worth it. We keep the fridge stocked with sandwich making things, snacks... I wouldn't want them getting warm every time I'm away from the dock. You may also encounter a problem with the freezer defrosting and getting everything wet. Our last...

Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

330 and 290 are very different boats. Don't make a decision you'll regret.

    Dingy on platform without davis?

Sooner or later everyone ends up with davits. Can you do it, yes. Will it be a pain, yes. Access to your rear cleats and entering / exiting your transom door will likely be blocked too. If you have a transom locker, that may be inaccessible.

How do you waterproof the canvas cover?

I lay a big tarp on my driveway so the canvas is not right on the cement, mix up a bucket of warm soapy water and scrub it with a broom style scrub brush. Hang over the fence to dry. After that I fill a plant sprayer with a gallon of starbrite waterproof and spray the top side of each piece, one...

Sea Ray 380 Sundancer vs Larson 370 Carbrio

I went from an express cruiser to a bridge when we got serious about using the boat for a condo. We live on it every weekend. There is no comparison. If your heart is in a bridge boat, buy a bridge. Check out the Mainship 40 Sedan Bridge. It's my big sister ship.

    Vacuflush v Electric Head

My Raritan electric can be purchased with fresh or raw water flush as well. I use fresh.

    Vacuflush v Electric Head

My electric Raritan Elegance uses more water than the vacuflush in my 290DA. Both work equally well. You would not believe the Raritan is electric. Advantage is fewer parts and no seals to change with the electric.

Probably part of your all round white lighting system. Should come on with your red, green and white overhead running lights. Probably a perko light.

    Clarion XMD1

JL Audio M series (not MX) speakers in whatever size you require. They are magic. I own 6.5" 7.7" 8.8" and a couple 10" subs. All phenomenal and they get better with size. The 8.8" blow me away, but they are very big. The 7.7" are the sweet spot in my opinion. Their amps are very nice as well...

Oil in the bilge...or something "oil-like"

Had the same boat and the same problem. Power steering for sure. Ended up being a loose hose clamp on the back of the engine on one of the lines. Just follow them back with your hands (very tight spot, hard to see) and you will find the clamps. Use a stubby straight blade screw driver. I did...
