Thanks everyone. The impellers were okay but I changed them anyway, the hoses and belts were still okay. I changed the engine and transmission oil, and of course all the filters.
I'm in Los Angeles. I changed the zincs (anodes) on engine every 9 months. I replaced all hoses 8 years ago when I bought the boat. I replaced impellers last, about three years ago, and both joints where shaft V's two months ago. I am ashamed to admit I only put on about 10-15 hours a year...
Thank you all for your advice on the heat exchangers. I went back through my records and learned that I descaled them 4 years ago. That should be enough for now I think.
My 41 sun dancer is 14 years old with 400 hours on the engines. I've owned her for 6 years, I am the third owner. To my knowledge the heat exchangers have never been replaced. My local Cat dealer says they should be replaced every 6 years. What say you all?
Also, my slip has an awful starboard...
I've owned/insured my 2003 41 Dancer for five years and that's why they want a new report. Is that standard? Naturally I hauled her out and gave her new bottom paint two years ago. Should I repaint the bottom now anyway? Anything else I should do while she's in dry dock?
I was about to buy a 3 inch temperpedic mattress top for my aft berth until I read the fire warning. It says that it burns quickly and very hot and not to be used in a closed space i.e. my boat's aft cabin.
I came from a deep keel sail boat that glided straight into the slip despite any side wind. Now, I dock my sea ray with a gusty side wind. Before I added the bow thruster docking was nerve wracking. I yelled at my crew (3 sons) and they yelled back. The $8,000 bow thruster took away 80% of the...
I bought a battery operated Bose Blue Tooth Mini speaker and a new Apple blue tooth nano iPod. Great sound, great convenience, much cheaper than upgrading an old stereo system, plus it sounds better than my old speakers. It's below when I'm below, it's on deck when I am.
I miss the bay area. Due to a broken rib I lost several months and couldn't make it down to the boat. Now I'm healed and looking forward to using it more. Good to hear from you again.
Apparently, my boat is very emotional. I explained that after changing her oil and impellors and ordering a new generator I was disappointed in her for the air conditioning problem. That seemed to do the trick, that and turning the fans up from three to four. Voila, water started coming out of...
"The Queen of Atlantic City," is a comedy about a 65 year old former beauty queen, her senile, mafioso father and her boyfriend who are on the run from the mob and the FBI, so naturally they steal a Sea Ray. It's available on Amazon.com...
I've just bought it and used it twice this week. It's quiet, it doesn't smell of gas or exhaust. It's a delight pushing my 11 foot westmarine inflatable at about 3-3.5 miles an hour. I have a range of about 3-7 miles at this speed, which is more than enough for me.
When I turn on the heat, water comes out of two through hulls. However no water comes out when I turn on the air conditioning. I shut the unit off after about two minutes of no water. Does anyone have any suggestions. I believe water IS supposed to come out of my Sundancer 41. many thanks.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU,
This is the best source on earth for Sea Ray owners. I am going to fix the generator. All the advice has been thoughtful and well reasoned. The deciding factor was that if I don't run the generator then the engine part of it will also fail. I had two generator...
