I'm in Los Angeles. I changed the zincs (anodes) on engine every 9 months. I replaced all hoses 8 years ago when I bought the boat. I replaced impellers last, about three years ago, and both joints where shaft V's two months ago. I am ashamed to admit I only put on about 10-15 hours a year...
My 41 sun dancer is 14 years old with 400 hours on the engines. I've owned her for 6 years, I am the third owner. To my knowledge the heat exchangers have never been replaced. My local Cat dealer says they should be replaced every 6 years. What say you all?
Also, my slip has an awful starboard...
I've owned/insured my 2003 41 Dancer for five years and that's why they want a new report. Is that standard? Naturally I hauled her out and gave her new bottom paint two years ago. Should I repaint the bottom now anyway? Anything else I should do while she's in dry dock?
I was about to buy a 3 inch temperpedic mattress top for my aft berth until I read the fire warning. It says that it burns quickly and very hot and not to be used in a closed space i.e. my boat's aft cabin.
I bought a battery operated Bose Blue Tooth Mini speaker and a new Apple blue tooth nano iPod. Great sound, great convenience, much cheaper than upgrading an old stereo system, plus it sounds better than my old speakers. It's below when I'm below, it's on deck when I am.
"The Queen of Atlantic City," is a comedy about a 65 year old former beauty queen, her senile, mafioso father and her boyfriend who are on the run from the mob and the FBI, so naturally they steal a Sea Ray. It's available on Amazon.com...
I've just bought it and used it twice this week. It's quiet, it doesn't smell of gas or exhaust. It's a delight pushing my 11 foot westmarine inflatable at about 3-3.5 miles an hour. I have a range of about 3-7 miles at this speed, which is more than enough for me.
When I turn on the heat, water comes out of two through hulls. However no water comes out when I turn on the air conditioning. I shut the unit off after about two minutes of no water. Does anyone have any suggestions. I believe water IS supposed to come out of my Sundancer 41. many thanks.
The back half on my Westerbeke is dead. The engine runs but produces no electricity. It will cost $3,000 or more to replace the back half. I might want to moor at Catalina without shore power for a weekend. Would running my engines be enough to charge the batteries? I would shut off the freezer...
I've been fortunate to have thus far avoided storms in my Sea Ray. I'm writing a mystery novel, "The Queen of Atlantic City." The hero is on a Sea Ray 42 between Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach a few miles off shore when a line of squalls hit, complete with lightening. Aside from lowering his...
I will be transporting her 400 miles by truck from San Fran to L.A. Before I put her back in the water I will paint her bottom and have her props removed and tuned. What else should I do?
My son and friends came to the boat in Oakland Ca, and found everything in the cockpit strewn about by vandals, but no damage. He opened the engine hatch and found it untouched. He cleaned things up, turned on the engines for a few minutes and left the dock, about three minutes later, in the...
Sorry I am unable to post a photo. The "Iowa" is moving from Benecia to Richmond for a refit before it travels to a permanent home in L.A. We saw it as it passed under the Richmond San Rafel bridge.
It is BIG. I sailed by the Battleship New Jersey many years ago when it was on active duty and...
I'm on San Francisco Bay. there is always a lot of soot on the boat from nearby container ships, no matter how often she's washed. I waxed the deck and hull seven months ago. Do you wax once or twice a year?
My inflatable has a soft bottom. If I keep it in the water in Southern California will I have a major problem with barnacles? Is there some kind of bottom paint for rubber bottom boats? Same questions for an engine.
Thanks
I have a shorter table pedastal to convert the cockpit table into a berth. I have been unable to remove the exisiting pedastal or the table. I don't want to damage it by forcing it too much. Is there a secret?
Rio Linda Marine trucked my 41 Dancer from L.A. to San Francisco. They were great. I drove the pilot car. Dennis, the driver treated my boat like it was his own. They charged a very reasonable price. I got their name from another Club Sea Ray member.
