I wasn't aware of such a hazaard until last July when I was on Glen Island which is on Lake George, N.Y. where the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has one of it's headquarters. The island is small having enough area for the Ranger Station and a small grocery store for...
The pump may be wired via the alternator and if so, one of two things may have happened. When you shorted out the alternator terminal, one of the DC diodes in the alternator burnt out, or maybe the pump itself was damaged by the short. Whenever a short occurs from a direct grounding of a live...
When I was young there were factories in just about every city in the U.S., both big and small. Many cities were founded on manufacturing. But today practically every one of these factories have closed down, boarded up and left to decay. Former industrial areas of America are now literal ghost...
Derek -
I sure can send you some pics of my engine bay. It's all original and clean as a whistle too. But here's the situation. I live up on the lake most of the year but in the winter I come to Florida where I am now. My boat's up at my N.Y. home all covered up. However, I will be back up...
Thanks for the welcomes Derek and Mike -
I wasn't aware that there were any other 230DA owners here on the forum.....I think the 230DA is great. Perfect for my fiance and me on this lake. I look forward to our sharings in the future....Cheers to you both and be well!

I haven't heard of anyone making one of these Honda generators a permanent installation component to their boat, much less running them in their engine compartment or bilge. The issues of concerns raised ie: the cap vent potentially leaking gas, non clamped hoses that "could fall off"...
Oh no. How sad to see such a thing......... My guess would be the oversize tires and high center of gravity of the truck made it unstable to begin with....then maybe a steering over-correction?
Well what a great thing to see a 230DA thread. I was out on the lake most of the summer and missed this when it started. I spent a lot of time restoring my '94 230DA last year. I also re-did all the upholstery, installed new carpeting, installed full shore power with a Progressive Dynamics...
I want to say that I'm very happy to have received a good many private messages from some very insightful fellows. My faith in this forum has been renewed. The PM's all basically assure me that on an overall basis, most of the members here are top notch great fellows and like anywhere else in...
That's right 4 Suns, and you wouldn't have been able to make as much fun or cause as much controversy had you not twisted my actual words.
Case in point: Where did I ever tell anyone to "shut up"? Answer - I didn't. You made that one up on your own.
As for the "calling people with boats...
Exactly. Finally someone who's got the stones to standup and voice his own opinion based not only on fact but also on pure logic and basic common sense. 14+ pages of posts on this thread and as always most are "mindlessly" bashing the use of portable generators on boats saying they're deadly...
You guys really amuse me. I've been a member here long enough to thoroughly search and read almost every thread on this generator controversy. Is it any coincidence that like 90% of the people who ridicule those who even mention the words "portable generators" are the 30' + or larger boat owners...
I'm a 45 year boating veteran, a lifelong entrepreneur which included starting a trucking company at age 18 which I ran for 22 years. I've also owned a gas station, an auto service center, 3 night clubs, 2 restaurants an underwater salvage business on Lake George, N.Y. and all of this in tandem...
