Anybody tow your 28' Sundancer around?

The Excursion makes a great tow vehicle. I've got a V10 4x4 and it does great towing the 270 with twins. If I'm going a longer distance I typically will wait to fuel up until I get closer - no point in hauling 100 gallons of fuel around if I don't have to. Some have experience brake issues...

    Remote oil filter leak

I was in a similar spot - one hose leaking on one engine and the adapter plate leaking on the other. Tried a new gasket on the adapter plate and it would still leak. It's not that difficult to just get down there and change out the filter so I eliminated mine. I had to remove #13 in the...

Does anyone use their water heater in the Carolinas?

Love mine - the extra space could be useful but not at the expense of the heater. Fish guts just don't seem to wash off as well in cold water!

Getaway boat for Boston bombing suspect

I saw a Facebook page asking for donations - they are trying to raise $50,000 to get the guy another boat. Don't see the replacement value being $50k but it is nice to see people trying to help out each other.

    Blown Fuse - Motor

I had a similar problem on one of my engines. I was told the breakers can corrode and weaken over time and to try another. I checked the main power connections and didn't see anything out of place or loose. I replaced the breaker and haven't had an issue since. Of course - mine is a 96...

    Problems starting 4.3L Mercruiser

If your 4.3's are similar to mine you will have a fuel/water sep and then a filter screen at the fuel inlet on the carb. The fuel/water filter is about $8 at Walmart and the filter screen on the carb is a reusable one and will just need to be cleaned. The fuel pumps definitely go bad - but...

    water in oil?

Have you changed the oil since you purchased the boat? Is it being run regularly and getting up to proper operating temperature?

Where should I purchase a pre owned Sea Ray cruiser?

I found a great deal using Marine Max - they even tracked down a trailer and had it all setup before we got there.

    Mid-90's 270 Sundancer Thread

Yep.... I repowered this past year. I bought 2 reman'd 4.3's and had a good friend who has a part time marine business install them. The engines were ~$2600 each and included flywheel and starter. I then replaced- couplers, alternators, oil pressure sensor and switch, gimble bearings, boots...

Baltimore to portsmouth to hatteras!!! Help!

Have a good trip - boating in the sounds around here is a bit tricky. Make sure you have updated charts or chip for your GPS as the water levels can be interesting at times. While the channel depths are usually quite good at 8 ft or more, the surrounding water gets skinny quick! Winds have...

    towing 13k w/10k truck

The later F250s (and Excursions) had a higher hitch rating starting in 2001. The difference was the size of the actual bolts holding the hitch to the frame. Beyond that the only thing I would be concerned with would be the axle ratio. The ideal ratio for the V10s are 4.30s which will get you...

    Oh boy....ebay 330 with a "new" generator.

That thing is a little scary. My seat cushions look better than that and I'm looking to have the redone!

    1992 270 Helm Seat

In my area you almost have to stand to avoid the crab pots! My 270 has a slider on the helm bench - wonder if that could be retrofitted back to the earlier models?

    Not boat related just asking

I don't think I would get in one.... here's a thread which went around a year or so ago. WARNING - the pics on this link are nasty..... http://ltxtech.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-10833.html

Semi crashes into Sea Ray boat hauled by SUV along Highway 41

My 270 is basically at the limit of the Excursion... couldn't imagine having a 330 back there! The 12k lb limit (with 4.30 gears on the v10 and diesel 3.73's) on the Ex includes passengers, gear in the truck, etc..... no way the driver was within limits.

    Potentially Lame question.... Engine Cleaning

I use Simple Green in an air sprayer and clean the engines and the bilge at the same time. I do not spray near the carbs or distributor and keep the water away from my batteries and other items down there. It doesn't take much scrubbing or hard spraying - just let it soak in for a few minutes...

    Evicted from the marina!

Sometimes it's good to have the boat on the trailer..... I fill the truck and the boat at the same time at my neighborhood station.

    High Point NC

You have Randalman lake, Lake Norman and High Rock. I haven't boated on any of them - but know you have to watch for bridge clearance on High Rock and Randalman has speed limits as well as other restrictions. Lake Norman would probably be your best bet but would be a bit of a drive. It would...

    Diesel, Single Engine, Trailerable Cruiser

That is a cool setup. Looking at the 28 on their web site has some really nice features. The bowl sink in the head is nice, has the dual helm setup ($5000!!!), bow pulpit ladder to name a few.
