Port Hole Windows & Hatch resealing

Wisconson.... IMHO, based on what you have for a season, I'd put some tub and tile caulk around them and deal with it in the fall/winter. Once you pull the frames, you may be in for more than you bargained. If the leaks in the portholes are via the gasket, there are set screws in each dog to...

    Documentation scam

I've never heard of the USCG sending out any overdue anything letters. My boat was on the hard for 34 months not getting repaired (another story) and never once did the USCG ask me about my documentation save the first renewal notice. Like the OP, I called my local folks and was given the same...

VSC ? Not a detterent for a CG boarding !!

OH! Ok. I may do that. I like the idea. Is the one you used from the USCG Historical website?

    Engine - shaft allignment cost?

Getting mine done as soon as some other stuff gets worked on. Beware any SFB knucklehead "mechanic" who tells you that's only necessary on wooden boats. Considering the US Navy and it's well paid engineers consider it mandatory after drydock period for a multi-million dollar US Navy Destroyer...

Replacing "Test" Switch on Bilge Pump Alarm Panel 1997 Sea Ray 370 AC - Need Guidance

Re: Replacing "Test" Switch on Bilge Pump Alarm Panel 1997 Sea Ray 370 AC - Need Guid Asked before. Tough find on a good day. Years ago I owned a Volvo 740. The air conditioner went out. I found a place in Texas that rebuilt circuit boards. They replaced relays and diodes and stuff at...

    Oil Change Valve

I've see those valves. There are pros and cons. The following is my 2 cents and 2 cents don't buy much. Warm up the engine on muffs. Get a funnel with a long hose from auto zone or HD. Run the hose out the drain plug hole and into a bucket. Drain the oil via that valve through the...

    can't get trailer title transferred

IF that doesn't work and IF you have relatives you can trust in another state that doesn't require all the hassle PA does, sell the trailer to them. Let them title it and register it for a year. Buy it from them with a title and bill of sale, and current registration.

    Need to re-power 7.4l efi

I too have heard nothing but good about Michigan Motorz. No personal experience though. IMHO...... IF you need to repower, I would get rid of all the electronics that deal with fuel delivery and go back to an old base 454 w/ Holly Carbs. Get as much as possible accessible to the average...

Help me find the "perfect" boat...

Ironically, your sneaker was the first thought that came to me. IMHO, if the OP is looking to spend a month at a time on his boat, yours is the minimum size I would be considering. A McKinna or a 58 Hatt LRC should be in the mix as well. My 2 cents.

    Bilge Heater

Mine is plugged into the outlet under the cockpit passenger seat. I route it up through the access port for the hatch lift pin release. The cord is plenty long enough.

Raw water cooled engines in salt water

I thought electrolysis had something to do with electricity in the equation somewhere. Stray grounds or something.

Raw water cooled engines in salt water

I would love to see pix of that. Frankly, I would not allow RWC to throw a sale for me one way or another. IMO, the plus is one less system to maintain and less to go wrong.
