It's mostly for peace of mind knowing that it is there and working as my marina has lousy AC wiring and I have a B3 which are know for corroding easily. There were a lot of little things on the boat not working when I bought it, mainly due to lack of maintenance and a lot of corroded electrical...
I'll check there-Does yours have the power inlet on the bottom with a breaker located behind another flip cover directly above it?
Kaz911 - definitely nothing behind the panel. An isolator isn't small and anywhere they could possibly place one there is nothing.
From what I have been able to see in the forum, it appears that the location of the galvanic isolator is behind the AC panel. I dropped my panel tonight and found nothing. Used my camera phone to take pics behind the microwave and all i could see there was an AC receptacle for the microwave and...
Thanks for the reply - so, should I top it off again back up to the 'cold' line? I had thought about air in the system as I had a BUSS heater that I had disconnected because they installed the unit above the level of the overflow and it was causing the rad cap to leak. I would assume the...
7.4 L MPI FWC motor in the 98 270 DA has started a mystery coolant leak. I say mystery becasue I filled the overflow to the 'cold' line and ran the boat for about 5-6 hours. After the motor cooled down (and for a couple of days) the coolant level in the overflow pretty much stayed at the same...
Thanks! I can't find the specific manual on tier website but they seem to universally control this by this function " press and hold the 16/9 key and then press the CLR(WX) key to cycle through 'International, USA and CAN. I believe that must be the problem! I will try this and report back.
My new-to-me 270da came with a Standard Horizon nova VHF radio and a very broken antenna (broken off right at the base). I replaced the antenna and now when I transmit (have only tried this on channel 66a) the marina's can hear me, but I can't hear there replies. I can go to Ch 16 and the WX...
So, I bought a slave solenoid as well as some contact cleaner. I found this site which has a ton of great troubleshooting tips http://www.sterndrives.com/no_crank_condition.html for the ignition and lots of other things.
I cleaned the starter contacts as well as sprayed cleaner into the switch...
A solenoid for the solenoid as it were. Ok, I looked it up in the manual for the engine and read the troubleshooting tips and I think you are right as it says if you want to try 'jumping' the slave you need to use 8 guage wire.
Thanks for the input, I will check it out this weekend.
Mike
I didn't have to wobble the shifter at all, just turned the key to off then then back on (heard the alarm go and waited for it to stop) then cranked and it cranked over fine then caught, then ran rough.
I thought the solenoid was in the starter body which is why I asked about the slave...
My '98 270 DA with a single 7.4 L MPI (879 hrs) has had an intermittent starting problem that i am trying to determine how best to troubleshoot. I just got it two months ago and have done a ton of work to it (new manifiolds/risers/water pump/batteries/cables-end/new hydraulic steering plus a ton...
I've been working on all the mechanicals to restore our 1998 Sundancer 270 DA (will post pictures once all is complete) but nothing is more satisfying to see than new cockpit carpet to finish things off. I just got my order from Custom Marine Carpet and installed in tonight. It looks great and...
Lived there for most of my life and just re-located to Vancouver after the final chick flew the coop! Your boat and audio set-up look pretty sweet. Where do you moor it there? We had to trailer our (at the time) Larson Cabrio 254 because moorage was impossible to get. Now we have a 270 DA and...
it came with both mounting options but I want to put it in the hull as I don't have a simple way (i.e a trailer) to haul it out on to hang it from the transom. I have had it read once in the hull but then it blanked out. I am currently moored in the Fraser river which is pretty mucky at the best...
