Agreed with everyone else, be more concerned with the sand/pebbles possibly ingested. I had a cold running condition due to pebbles stuck in the t-stat springs, which caused open loop operation and the oil getting diluted by gasoline, so keep an eye on the temp.

Slm-12 is what I have. I'm going to get a 4 step swim platform ladder because the angle is a little off with my 3 step, but it's well worth the $$ IMO
I have 2 Lab's and I use the ruffwear vests. They look brand new after 2 fill seasons and the handle is very strong. I've got an older version, but the current one looks even more user friendly with the buckled strap under the neck (mine is just velcro) and more padding on the belly.
I've...
I'm sure you have a vent, as its kind of needed to pump out correctly. The previous comments are spot-on, definitely keep adding clean water to the "holding tank" as you're getting it pumped out. If its like mine it will still leave a 1/2" of liquid on the bottom, so the more water you run...
Is that the mouse island by catawba? We spent many a summer swimming at pebble beach and catching fish off the shore right there. Can't believe it's been run up on so often, although I can see why with all the traffic around there.
I just thought of something ironic. The title of this thread is "crash while docking", and I'd argue that EVERY docking is just a controlled "crash". At SOME point the boat touches a piling, fender, etc. Its just the speed and force at which it meets the object that defines how bad of a...
Thats too bad, for all involved. Bad job by the dealer not at least going out & back in the first time to make sure it went smoothly. When we bought ours last spring we had zero hands-on experience and our salesguy spent an hour showing/helping with docking and adjusting to lake conditions...
Great pics. I'm sure it was tough to be around all that beautiful fresh water and not have your boat with you, but it sounds like you had a great trip.
Really jealous of your brothers view & lakefront, thats an awesome setup to enjoy every day.
Thanks for posting about a trip to the Murder...
We're going to Kellys/PIB next weekend and staying at Portside. I've been reading it can be a little rocky sleeping on the boat, so hopefully its not too windy.
We'll be at PIB on Friday and we'll have our two lab retrievers with us, so it'll be interesting to see how they do with the gold...
I spotted him almost immediately, his head was underwater FAR more often than everyone else and he kept going further and further down with each wave. Def scary.
I had a pretty scary event myself, and I'm a pretty strong swimmer. I slid off the front of the bow thinking the water was 3-4' deep...
Sea Ray made a 260 overnighter that you could get with a 454 MPI, which should be good for 50mph and get decent gas mileage.
Chap makes some really nice boats, and so does Formula. Other than the 280/290SS Seae Ray really didnt make a 26' cuddy with some luxury and performance. Not sure why...
Dryer sheets work great for inside the boat, but what about on the outside of the canvas? I'm gonna try the Home Defense along the dock and on the pilings, maybe like stated above it will keep the from getting to the boat at all.
Dont think of the indicator lights as up & down, think of them ONLY in how much you have deployed that trim tab down (that side of the bow will go "down"). I usually just use the LED's to make incremental adjustments to how much up/down each side needs to go. Think of it in number of LED's lit...
Yeah thats a solid wage for sure, so no excuse there. Not sure how old you are, but if you're in your 40's or 50's its your generations fault for raising a bunch of self-important hipsters that only care about energy drinks and their FB status. So good job there.
Yeah, 18 - 25 can be a tough age to get any hint of reliability out of. I will say try to remember what you were like back then, and if they are close to or at minimum wage good luck getting good workers on a nice summer evening. I was the exception at that age, working 60+ hours a week right...
Define young adult? 18, 25, 35?
But yeah, lack of work ethic is a big issue for most people in this country, regardless of age. I'm sitting here working a double shift in order to enjoy a weekend of boating. Very much worth it. :)
Agreed, MSRP is just a guideline when it comes to boats (or cars, or RV's, etc). My boat MSRP'd somewhere in the mid $80k's, but I got it for closer to $60k. The issue is that actual selling prices vary wildly from dealer to dealer, so the only apples-to-apples comparison you can really do is...
