I am beyond thrilled that Merc now makes a water impellar kit ($35) that includes a wear plate for my 8.1s! Talk about a savings not having to replace those pumps! I did buy the other end that the hoses attach to but that was a deal compared to $700 x2 or so for new pumps :)

Could somebody please tell me how in the world to get to the strainer to clean it? It is forward of the transmissions. Pretty tight space to say the least. Laughing just thinking about why such an easy task was put where it is.
