Dave I found engine related schematics on the Merc support web site - had to dig as I recall but I eventually found them. Never found anything more than basic block diagrams in the owners manual for the boat house systems.
Looking for a helm side pedestal with seat that will fit my 87 290 Amberjack. Removing the back to back seats on the starboard side.
Engine parts and outdrives (alphas) for sale or trade.
Is your dash gel coat or covered with vinyl? My 87' 290 Amberjack is covered with vinyl - holding up ok but will need some work on day I'm sure. I'm upgrading the instrument cluster to all glass MFD's - leaving the vinyl around it for now.
Unfortunately my 290 Amberjack only has two tanks and no fuel manifold - although I intend to add one shortly. If it's any help, my fuel filters are mounted on the top of the tanks with suction lines extending horizontally for a couple of inches, then 90 down into the tank - one on each tank...
Thanks guys for the replies. My 270 Amberjack was built in 87. Hull is solid, decks are cored. Working on one soft spot under the helm station, balance of the decks are fine. Boat appears to have been the victim of high level electric fields resulting in corrosion from one end to the other...
Which control panel? The engine gauges a usually shown on the engine wiring diagram. Merc site. Electricals beyond that can be hard to find. Check the SEARAY website for owners manual for the boat. It will show some details - maybe?
Anyone know how SR constructed 270 (27ft) hulls - appears that the bottom (out to the chine) was laid up in a form, then joined at the chine with the sides to make one piece. My concern is the structural integrity of the chine joint if the original fasteners used to hold the bottom and sides...
A Coast Guardsman (retired) is stranded (hospitalized) in Athens Greece and needs help getting home for effective treatment. Some kind of blood problem that is not responding to antibiotics. Request for help came out over the weekly Coast Guard Ham radio net on 14.300 mhz. Sat.
I don't have...
Condolences to the family - a life ended way too soon. One of my favorite places. For those with any doubts - just catch a sunrise at Red Rock - no way it's by accident!
Great info on paints - tnx - Used Awlgrip years ago - not much since. I have heard some guys talk about how good the Rustoleum is - will have to try it. Got some repainting to do on a couple of tractors.
War Eagle - class of '70 !
I've been playing with Pettit Topside EzPoxy single part. Lot'sa colors including original SR colors. Stuff really works easily. Goes on with a small diameter foam roller and shines like a new silver dollar.
Sounds like you are really making head way - looking forward to results.
Hi Jay,
My project is still in process - delayed by another project - but back on it now. Bracket took several months longer to fabricate than advertised. Shop got over loaded. Don't have any speed data yet but I expect improvements coming from several areas. The two DF175 are rated at the...
FYI my DF175's weigh 485 lbs each. Considering the Zukes also have an offset drive shaft, the cg of the engine is a little bit forward compared to others. The net change in weight and balance is not what you would think. My props will be only 6" to 8" further astern of the original out...
I'm in the middle of doing just that! My '87 270 Amberjack is being refitted with two Suzuki D175's. We ran the Merc's IO for 10 years and really enjoyed the open rear deck. Did not enjoy the noise and vibration from down below. The cuddy cabin is big enough for the wife and I to over...
Ground faults occur when the current flowing in a circuit pair becomes unbalanced. ie The current flowing in via the black wire does not match the current flowing out via the white wire. The current difference is returning to ground indirectly - thru an unintended path. To fix this you are...
