I would think it depends on the model. Some have a plug on the back for an additional/remote station/mic.

I had removed the screw previously, but that didn't get me anywhere....I wasn't sure if there was a trick I was missing. I guess I have to pry a bit. Probably been on there a long time. I doubt the previous owner ever took it out at night...
So I noticed this past weekend that the red and green nav lights are very underwhelming...any easy swaps to new ones? (2003)
And is there a trick to getting at the bulbs? I seem to remember undoing the screw on the top and that didn't let me in.
I was only talking about the DSC...however, not that I've tried, but as I understand the AIS on my radio, it shows ships/boats that are indeed broadcasting their location/information and one function is the ability to call them. Isn't it conceivable that one could select a nearby ship/boat and...
I for one am not discounting your planning/training etc...just that if possible, I want it to be as easy as possible for her/me, before having to go to all the other steps etc. We've taken the same courses and done the same cruising. We all know Murphy will probably pay a visit anyhow...
My observations of almost 20 years boating on the Chesapeake...not a single one of my power boat friends turns on their VHF with the exception of opening day of Rockfish season to hear reports come in (mostly BS bragging it seems also.) I always turn mine on be it the previous sailboats I owned...
Kirstie in the office will take good care of you. I chartered from her half a dozen times when she worked for Conch Charters. She comes to the Annapolis Sailboat show every year (where we usually book our charters)
If y'all have a problem with him, why not just ignore him and move on? There are those that find his different experience interesting or useful or whatever. There's a nice long weekend ahead of us, life's too short for this BS....chillout
I had to fire up my 9.9 on my Catalina 25 on more than one occasion. We'd be sailing across the bay and some of the big ships would make a turn in the deep channel when we thought we were on a safe heading. They can "sneak" up on you when they make a course change. We'd think they'd pass well...
Dang, wish I had gotten a chance to read the opening post. I was on my boat in my marina very close to there when it happened. Glad there were no serious injuries. The incident certainly dominated the conversation on the Bay this weekend.
I've been boating on the Bay since shortly after I...
Another thing about the sailing vs power. I've always been a sailor until I bought this SeaRay last summer. In the Virgins you don't necessarily have to use the sails...when I bring other people down there, we get a big cat and at most just pull out the jib. No places are that far away nor do...
If you're even asking the question, I wouldn't go with Conch (even though they're my favorite.) Very basic marina and the fun restaurant that was there (The Pub) is no longer there. To each their own...I don't want to pay for the marina etc as I want to get out on the water ASAP. They know me...
