Make sure the gaskets are in place!!! I didn't realize it but the gasket fell off of mine because you have to put the gasket on, and then put the filter on while holding the gasket in place, its kind of tricky. Anyway, i couldn't get mine started afterwards and it wound up being because the...
Yes and I noticed he had put a bunch of small yellow zip ties on them like he was trying to label them. Hmmmmmmm..... I still don't understand why he would have taken them off the distributor cap in the first place. Hmmmmm. I'll be going to work on it friday, hopefully that's all it is. Sure...
Ok when I say not running right, I mean it is loping somewhat and does not sound healthy when revving, as opposed to the other engine that sounds hollow and crisp. It also wants to backfire and just not idle right.
I have the distributor wire going directly to the coil, and have circumvented...
Long story short... I hired a mechanic to fix a problem on my starboard engine and he Installed the petronix ignitors (converted my old points setup to electronic ignition using the old distributors) on my 1987 crusader 454's, and now my port engine will not run right. Starboard engine runs like...
Anyone have any ideas for ballast? My 340 sundancer lists to starboard and its driving me nuts. Im thinking about buying a bunch of 50lb barbels and putting them in milk crates or something.
Fuel filters are brand new, the only one i have not replaced is the one inside the carbeurator.
The engine is running around 160ish when the problem happens.
So i have a 87' 340 sundancer with 350 crusader 454's.
Currently have both engines running off the port tank so I can burn off old fuel. Both engines run great but once they are nice and warmed up after 30 minutes of driving or so, the starboard engine starts to stumble and fall on its face...
Is there a trick or anything I need to know before I take off the carbs to get them rebuilt on my 1987 340 sundancer? I have been burning old gas through them from the previous owner and am planning on pulling them off to get rebuilt after I am done. One of them boggs down at 2800 rpm and im...
Any ideas to what this ticking sound could be?
Oil is full and clean. The other engine does not make this sound. It runs like a champ, no problems just wondering what the sound is.
Maybe I can add some kind of ballast to the port side. I'd like to be able to use both fuel tanks and not worry about keeping one only so full to prevent list.
You made my day! That explains everything. Just as I suspected. My boat is a wierd bird. I have crusader engines and no generator. Just how I like it! Less to maintain and worry about, and my engine space is nice and clean with plenty of room.
My boat doesn't have a rotary battery cut...
Also starboard side of the boat is where the galley is located (fridge, cabinetry, sink, stove etc etc) and the head along with toilet and Blackwater tank on starboard side. And the a/c is on the starboard side.
Black water tank empty. Water full. Starboard fuel is at 2/3, trying to burn it up to correct the list.
Anyone else have this issue? Port fuel tank is full. She lists to starboard a good inch or so.
Percussion tested stringers they sound fine. There is some delamination on the board in engine...
Sorry to start all the new threads around here! Seemed like it needed a little life though ;)
Need a little help diagnosing a problem i encountered. I recently purchased an 87' 340 sundancer with 454 crusaders. All in all they run pretty well. But i noticed after the engines have been running a...
