Just got the cast off, so me driving the boat is not possible. This marina is downstream so I figured it would be an easier trip. There is a marina upstream but it’s about the same distance.
Yep they can’t lift my boat even when the water is at full summer pool. It’s hard to believe but they...
I have BoatUS, they have no providers in this area and no independent contractors either. I’m wondering why I pay them? There are lots of boaters on Lakes Guntersville, Wheeler, Wilson and Pickwick but no BoatUS service available.
I can swim from my slip to the boat ramp (and I’m a very poor...
Any advice appreciated!
My starboard engine has been diagnosed with a “stacked crank bearing.” My marina can not take my boat (SeaRay 340 SDA, 1988) out of the water due to their lift limitations.
My only option seems to be piloting her to Iuka, MS. The trip is approximately 80 miles through...
Impeller, tune up, oil change and new fuel pump in March 2022. Problem started in mid June. Thanks for your advice. Yeah, I understand Westerbeke cheap. LOL
The Westerbeke generator on my ‘88 340 Sundancer has recently started shutting down after 2-3 hours of its initial run. If I let it sit for an hour, it will run for an hour then shutdown again. I’ve run out of ideas, any advice appreciated.
Thank you. The PO told me the generator was a 4.5kw; however, after some digging around to find the serial number and calling Westerbeke it is indeed a 6.5KW.
Me thinks a suitable punishment would be for the mutineer to report for duty naked. That always makes me forget about her previous refusal to follow orders. In fact, I now order her not to obey my orders!
My Westerbeke 4.5 generator has only 650 hours or so on it. Most of which has been put on during the 3 years I've owned the boat. General maintenance has always been done by the marina mechanic while I've owned the boat. This year they are booked out until November, so it's either wait or figure...
I had SeaRay email me the Original 1988 owners manual; however, I can't find any fuse information in it. They have a list of 12 Volt Breakers, but not the glass fuses that are in the panel on the starboard side of the helm. Maybe I'm just missing it. Thanks for your input.
Anyone with a 1988 340 Sundancer have a schematic showing the labels for the fuse panel and the amperage of each fuse? SeaRay says it's in the owners manual but alas it is not. I'm not convinced the PO replaced the fuses correctly. Thanks in advance.
Caribou, did you ever find a representation of the fuse panel or make your own? I can't find one anywhere and I'm concerned that the fuses have been replaced with the wrong ampere size. If you've found anything I would appreciate it if you would share. Thanks!
We are in a safe anchorage only about 15 miles from our home marina. I do have tow coverage but this close to home I can just call some of my dock neighbors to come get us. Electricity scares me and I have no confidence in our marina’s mechanical services. Thanks for y’all’s advice.
I’m sitting at anchor on the Tennessee River. When I started my port engine the ignition on/off switch started smoking. I removed the 10 amp breaker and it was very hot. I don’t have a spare on board so I swapped the blower breaker. It started smoking immediately upon starting the engine. Any...
Mechanic recently installed new starboard engine, on the way to his marina he said my port gauges started jumping, then quit working. Apparently he didn't bother to troubleshoot as I had told him I was ordering replacement gauges. Before installing the new gauges I started looking for the...
